305 - Device Configuration and Troubleshooting - RS - Guidelines
Eligibility
Any Secondary division student member may enter this event.
No equipment, supplies, or materials other than those specified for an event will be allowed in the testing area.
No previous Business Professionals of America tests and/or sample tests or facsimiles thereof (handwritten,
photocopied, or keyed) may be taken into the testing area. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.
Competencies
• Identify PC components • Demonstrate knowledge of Windows® and Linux
• Add and remove components installations, functions, and upgrades
• Demonstrate knowledge of system resources • Demonstrate booting procedures
• Utilize peripheral ports • Configuring device drivers
• Demonstrate knowledge of IDE, SATA, and • Replace system components
SCSI devices • Describe cloud services
• Utilize peripheral devices • Describe firewall settings
• Troubleshoot problems and perform preventative • Manage user accounts
