Creating the Warranty application and
operators
Scenario
The first thing that needs to be done to start your development work is to create an
application. This exercise helps you to create a Framework based application as well as an
Implementation application.
The Warranty application needs to be developed for an Organization called RGB. But
keeping future updates in mind, the senior system architect suggested creating a
Framework application first and then create an implementation over the Framework.
Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your Assignment
Your assignment consists of the following tasks:
Task 1: Create a new application.
Create the Warranty Framework with an organization as RGB. Then create the Warranty
application based on the Warranty Framework.
Task 2: Update the password for the new operator id.

Create the operators Admin@rgb and financesp@rgb.
Task 3: Login with new operator id.

Verify the operator was created by logging in. Create a new case named Warrant.
Task 4: Update the operator’s default portal.

Set the default portal for the operator’s access group to use Dev Studio.
Task 5: Verify your work.

Login with the operator id and verify the portal

Detailed Steps
Task 1: Create a new application.
Create a new Framework application.
1. Log into Dev Studio using the Username [email protected] and Password
install123!.
2. Use the Application menu option to build a New Application. In header of Dev Studio,
click Pega Platform > New Application.
3. You see the following screen. Hover over Build from scratch. Click Continue.
4. You will see the following screen with the out-of-the-box themes.
5. Hover over Theme Cosmos (Traditional architecture) and click the Select button.
6. You will see the following screen, enter WarrantyFW as application name and click the
Advanced configuration link.
7. From Application Structure, select Framework.
8. Enter RGB as the Organization name. Product as the Division name, and PUnit as the
Unit name. Click Save.
9. Click the Create application button.

10. You have successfully created the framework application.
11. Click Done.
Create a New Implementation application.
1. Now let’s create an Implementation application based on the Warranty Framework.
2. Select Pega Platform from the header again. Click New Application. Hover over
WarrantyFW Framework and click Continue.
3. Click Build with WarrantyFW.

4. Click Continue for case types. No case types available to clone.
5. Click Continue for data types. No data types available to link.
6. Enter application name as Warranty.
7. Click the Advanced configuration link and configure as shown below:

Organization name: RGB
Division name: Product
Unit name: PUnit
8. Click Generate division layer check box.
NOTE: Make sure the application structure is Implementation.

9. Click Save button. Click Create application.
10. Default Operators are not created to use this application. Enter Admin@rgb in the
space provided. From the dropdown, select Cosmos authors and click on the Add
button.
11. Add an additional operator by entering financesp@rgb. Select Cosmos authors

and click add.
12. Click Log off.
Task 2: Update the password for the new operator id

1. Login with the operator id [email protected]/install123!
a. Click on the Records explorer.
b. Expand the Organization category.
c. Click on the Operator ID record type. To the right, all the Operator ID rule
instances are displayed.
d. Click Admin@rgb, it will open the Operator ID record.
e. Go to the Security tab and click the Update Password button.
f. Enter rules as the New password and Confirm new password.
g. Click Submit.
h. Click Save.
i. Uncheck Force password change on next login.
j. Uncheck Disable Operator.
2. Save the operatorID record.

3. Repeat steps for financep@rgb.
Task 3: Login with new operator id

1. Log off as [email protected] and login as:
a. User name: Admin@rgb
b. Password: rules
2. You are presented with the Overview landing page.
3. Click the Create case type button.

4. Enter Warrant in the Create case type field. Click Next.
NOTE: The case type Warrant is displayed in the Case Designer.
Task 4: Update the operator’s default portal.

1. Switch to dev studio
2. From the Records explorer, expand Security and select Access Group.
3. Open the Warranty:Authors Access Group by clicking on the row.
4. Update the Default portal by selecting the Radio button to the left of Developer.
5. Click Save.
Task 5: Verify your work

1. Log off and login again with operator id admin@rgb/rules. Verify that the Dev studio is
displayed as default landing portal.
2. Log Off.
