I really enjoyed my holiday in Australia. Last Sunday I visited a marine park
called Sea World which is at Surfer’s Paradise near Brisbane. It’s Australia’s largest
marine park and I had a wonderful day there.
The first thing I saw was the Oceanorium where you can watch all sorts of
sea fish and animals under water. There were huge turtles, sharks and beautiful
tropical sea fish. The most exciting thing was watching a man feeding the sharks. He
wore a special diving suit. Then I watched the performance of sea animals. The show
was in a big outdoor swimming pool. There were killer whales, dolphins and sea
lions, and they did all sorts of fantastic things in the water. One of the girls in the
show rode around the pool on the back of a killing whale, and another girl rode
underwater on the back of a turtle. After the show, I had lunch. There were several big
restaurants at the park and I had lunch in a restaurant that was shaped like a ship!
Then, I watched a wonderful water- ski show which was held on a lake.
There were a lots of other things to do at the park. There was lake cruising, a
train ride, a big water slide, swimming pools, and an incredible roller coaster called
the ‘corkscrew’- because it goes three loops upside down. But I wish I had gone on
the roller coaster called ride before lunch rather than after it.

“Once upon a time a hawk fell in love with a hen. The hawk flew down from the sky
and asked the hen, “Won’t you marry me?”
The hen loved the brave, strong hawk and wishes to marry him. But she said, ”I
cannot fly as high as you can. If you give me time, I may learn to fly as high as you. Then, we
can fly together.”
The hawk agreed. Before he went away, he gave the hen a ring. “This is to show that
you have promised to marry me, ”said the hawk.
So it happened that the hen had already promised to marry a rooster. So, when the
rooster saw the ring, he became very angry. “Throw that ring away at once! Didn ’t you tell
the hawk that you’d already promised to marry me?” shouted the rooster .The hen was so
frightened at the rooster anger that she threw away the ring immediately.
When the hawk came the next day, the hen told him the truth. The hawk was so
furious that he cursed the hen. “Why didn ’t you tell me earlier? Now, You ’ll always be
scratching the earth, and I’ll always be flying above you to catch your children, ”said the
hawk.
The curse seems to have come true.

Besengek Daging
Ingredients:
500 gr beef
1 onion
1 teaspoon shrimp paste
1/2 red chili pepper
1 teaspoon coriander (ground)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
30 ml tamarind water
250 ml beef stock
500 ml coconut milk
2 teaspoons sugar
salt to taste
oil for frying

Preparation:
Place the beef in enough water to cover and boil until tender (about 1 hour). Remove
from stock and slice after cooling. Chop the onion and fry with the shrimp paste. Add
chilli, pepper, coriander, turmeric, tamarind, sugar and salt. Sauté for a further 1/2
minute. Then add the beef and stock. Cover pan and simmer for a further 5 minutes.
Uncover pan and add the coconut milk. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens.
Can be served on its own or with rice.
