My name is Eva Cristina Estevez, and I am applying for the 2023 GKS undergraduate

scholarships. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Cambridge Bilingual

School, and I intend to receive this scholarship to pursue my passion in the field of music or
industrial engineering.

My awards and accomplishments throughout my scholastic studies thus far demonstrate my

potential, growth, perseverance, and self-education, which should be recognized by a
prestigious institution such as yours. I intend to receive this scholarship so that I can expand
my knowledge and gain extensive experience in these fields that will be important to my
professional career.

Korea's advanced educational standards have impressed me the most since I realized the
importance of quality education. The fast-growing economy, technological advancement,
and global ranking of universities with high reputations make South Korea a great hope for
a better career. I believe studying in Korea will help me improve my knowledge in my
chosen profession and increase my skills. I also believe that these universities are fortunate
to employ many distinguished faculty representatives who can discover the best talents and
opportunities to learn new things and meet new people from other parts of the world. Also,
it is well known that students who have studied abroad are very successful.

To be honest, I think that I can not quite achieve my goals in my country because society
does not value artistic professions as much as others, so the chances of growing in this field
are very low, and our industry is technologically backward, so many students choose to
study abroad to have better career opportunities. So a lot of the reasons that make me want
to pursue a scholarship in South Korea goes, beyond my taste in music or what is shown in
TV series, because I have always been interested in their culture, I have read a lot about
their history and learned Hangul myself, and the fact that art is valued as an important
profession in this country and that their technology is much more advanced makes me feel
confident that this is the place where I can belong.

During my elementary school years, I discovered my talents, strengths, and weaknesses. I

participated in various activities in both fields, such as singing and poetry competitions,
orchestra and theater auditions, science fairs, and sports competitions like the inter-school
table tennis competition, baseball, and archery. My teachers were always pleased with my
performance, dedication, and development. After high school, I continued my musical
studies in the youth orchestra as a violinist, and I am also studying Industrial Engineering at
UTP (Technological College of Panama). My extracurricular activities include baseball,
table tennis, and ballet, and I joined the roller dance club; I also worked as an artist in a
social and volunteer event organized by the Ministry of Health of Panama; as a hobby, I
like to learn new languages.

My family consists of 5 people. My father is a college professor and has a master's degree
in systems engineering, my mother is a publicist and housewife, and my grandmother was
an elementary school teacher. I am the second daughter in my family and have an older
sister who received a scholarship to study medicine. My parents always taught me the
importance of values and education. Even though they struggled a bit with money at the
time, they always made sure that my sister and I got the best education and the support we
needed because they were always there for every activity we developed. Most importantly,
they support me in my decision to apply for this scholarship as they are witnesses to my
hard work during these years. Although in the past I was not able to attend music
academies or tutoring like other kids, I managed to learn by myself by watching videos,
reading books, watching others and with their help.

Throughout my life I have participated in many significant activities, such as dance and
orchestra performances, various scientific tours, but I think that among the most memorable
experiences I have had is when my music and Spanish teachers in seventh grade let me
know that I had great talent in |music, including composing melodies and lyrics. Since that
day, I decided to believe their words and started learning on my own with their guidance,
nowadays composing, singing, and playing instruments have become my everything, and
that have led me to become a violinist at the juvenile symphony orchestra. And what I am
most proud of is that I had the courage to participate in the auditions for the play "Maestra
Vida" by Ruben Blades. Moreover, the honor of receiving a Medal of Honor in
Mathematics and having the chance to qualify to participate in the 2018 Physics Olympiad
motivated me.

I am sure that this scholarship will open new opportunities for me to continue my education
at a prestigious institution and thus gain further advantages. It will open new doors for me
to grow and help me contribute positively to society as a responsible citizen. I hope and
wish that my motivations will inspire you to grant me this scholarship. This scholarship
will take me to the pinnacle of success and help me achieve my goals and dreams in the
field of music or science.
