LEARNING OUTLINE
PRE-LESSON
1. Play anagram for the word ‘diary’. Put pupils into pairs and ask them to guess the word.
2. Ask pupils if they keep a diary. Show them a diary if necessary.

2. Activity 2:
Play CD track 41. Pupils read the text on SB pg 88 silently while listening to the CD.
Pupils check if their predictions were correct. Give feedback.
Ask pupils to read the text again and to find and underline the words: shell / shark / lifeguard / museum (if they
are new to the pupils).
Ask pupils to tell a partner what they think these words mean, based on the content of the text. Then ask them to
check all the words in the dictionary to see if they were correct. Feedback by asking if they had guessed
correctly.
3. Activity 3:
Grammar Box: Read the sentences out loud and have pupils repeat. Point out that didn’t is the short form of did
not. (follow instructions for Grammar Box TB pg 134)
Distribute worksheet. Pupils read the diary and tick the correct box according to what Katie did today. Check
with the class.
LESSON
1. Make true/false sentences about Katie’s diary. e.g. Katie went to the beach in the morning. etc

2. Pupils stand up if the sentences are true and remain sitting if they are false.
