2 About OpenText StreamServe

Whether it’s communicating with customers and suppliers, triggering internal processes, or facilitating
payment and revenue, documents keep business transactions flowing and the organization healthy.

And now your document environment can also make solid contributions to the bottom line. Linked with
your business systems, but requiring no changes to them, OpenText StreamServe adds extensive in-
house capabilities for defining, producing, and interacting with enterprise documents.

It gives business users hands-on control of customer-facing documents and content. It enables you to
substantially eliminate manual handling and improve the accuracy of the documents that business
and operational processes depend on. And it relieves IT of much of the traditional burdens associated
with creating, updating, and managing documents.

This adds up to improved profitability through rapid ROI, reduced costs, and enhanced revenue
opportunities made possible by personalized customer communications.

2.1 New Features

OpenText StreamServe 5.6.2 includes the following new features.

2.1.1 Enhancements
• Please always review the cumulative hotfix notes for additional new enhancements.

OpenText StreamServe 5.6.2 Release Notes

4
2.1.2 Support for interactive objects/forms
• Support for interactive objects/forms in StoryTeller is enabled:
o Objects like edit text controls, check boxes, dropdowns, radio buttons, list boxes, and
buttons are available
o Interactive output in HTML and PDF
o Rendered statically in all other output
• Input data transformation possibility in StoryTeller:
o New optional mode of processing input data
o Template structure and modeling in StoryTeller
o Template driven transformation (TDT) for linking input and other data sources to
templates
o Not only for interactive objects, but also for normalizing any data for easier and more
efficient presentation

2.1.3 Ad Hoc Correspondence and Composition Center enhancements

• Exclusive rule evaluation in Composition Center enables the switch statement behavior and
ensures a resource is selected for a section or group. This adds support for nested logic.
• Business user management of “from”, “reply-to”, and “display name” fields are added to the
Composition Center document definition user interface. This will increase business user
control for email campaigns.
• Switch behavior is possible via the Template Engine solution.
• Localization of subject field is possible.
• An enhanced preview of the StoryTeller and PageOUT templates is available when creating a
new document definition. This improves the coordination between template and document
definition relationship and confirms that the new document definition is based on the correct
template.
• The Composition Center user can provide in an embedded text highlight or call-out text areas
for Ad Hoc documents, which gives visual indication of “non-system” texts. It improves UX for
Ad Hoc users responsible for embellishing text resources. Text values are highlighted in the
Ad Hoc preview and edit modes.
• Image resource support is introduced in Ad Hoc which improves the business user
management of on-demand contents and gives support for key resources in Ad Hoc.
• HTML preview (non-paginated mode) is supported in Ad Hoc and provides consistency
between the StoryTeller design options, Composition Center, and Ad Hoc. It is managed by a
new URL command “&previewType=XXX”
• An additional operator in the rule editor “does not contain” is added to the operator list.
• Composition Center supports PageOUT as a template:
o The Advanced Text Tool exposes an editable section to the document definition.
o This provides a replacement for Composer which is no longer delivered and gives a
single text management solution for both StoryTeller and PageOUT.
o Ad Hoc is not supported for PageOUT templates.

2.1.4 EasyLink cloud delivery enhancements
• You can improve batch submission to the EasyLink system by grouping the messages.
• From StreamServe, you can monitor the state of your messages sent to EasyLink by using a
new reporting function. Note that your EasyLink account must be configured for reporting.
The StreamServe job state can be synchronized with the EasyLink job state by using the
external job completion function.

2.1.5 Content Server Category mapping enhancements

• StreamServe document types and metadata can be mapped to Content Server Categories
and attributes without requiring that that the Category or attribute has a reference to an
Enterprise Library document model or property type.
• A new Content Server Mapping tool that uses the Enterprise Library Service, which lets you
browse Content Server folders and map StreamServe metadata to Content Server attributes.

2.1.6 Cordys integration

Example Project with integration touch points for Ad Hoc (on-demand) document creation
process.

2.1.7 JBOSS Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.2

• Full support for JBOSS EAP 6.2 for the StreamServe web applications.

2.1.8 New filters

• Service call filter:
o Job processing is optimized by calling a service, which can be called using an input
or output filter and has cleaner cross-StreamServer application workflow
management.
• Java filter:
o Calling Java classes can be executed in order to process data delivery to input and
output connectors.

2.1.9 Template Engine improvements

replace).
• Attachments functions, which combined with the new resource web service, enable rich
HTML5 emails with attachments.
