Answer the following questions/items:

1.According to George Mead, "the self is not biological but social". Explain in your own words what it
means. (5Points)

-In my own explanation on “The SELF is not biological but social” is our self is developed in social or
society such as social interactions, life experiences, and what were learning in our society, that's how
our self developed.

2. Do you agree with Charles Horton Cooley's Looking Glass Self concept, that the self is developed in
relation to the perception of others? Why? (5 pts)

-I am not agree with Charles Horton Conley's looking-glass self concept because we, humans are not
only developing our self with relation to others because we are also capable to learn and developed our
SELF.

3. Differentiate True Self from False Self as introduced by Donald Winnicott. When do you think conflict
arises and how does it affect a person? (5points)

-When we say true self according to Donald Winnicott, it describe a sense of self based on spontaneous
authentic experience and a feeling of being alive or having a real self. The false self according to him
refers to certain types of false personalities that develop as the result of early and repeated
environmental failure with the result that the true self potential is not realized, but hidden. Conflict
arises when there is a misunderstanding between two or more person. It affects because it can even
make people feel physically sick or in pain.

4. As a college student and as a future professional, why is there o need to truly know and understand
oneself? (5 points)

-As a college student nowadays, knowing and understanding myself is very important because it helps
me feel less hassle and it helps me make decisions that I won't regret.

5. Create a short slogan or poster that would motivate others to exert effort to know themselves. (10
points)
