Essay

In this lesson plan activity, we took the topic of "complimenting and congratulation".
In the lesson plan that we have made, the first activity is to divide students into several
groups, consisting of 4 to 5 students. The next activity was the teacher showing a video
containing about two people who were exchanging news by letter, in the letter one of the
actors congratulated him on his achievement by sending a letter because their homes were
far away. This is an initial stimulant given to give students an idea of how to write a letter.

After watching the video, students were asked to discuss with their groups what the
contents of the video were presented, then students discussed what was needed in writing
letters and the structure in writing letters. In discussion activities, students will do listings to
write down the results of what they have gotten from the videos that have been presented.
The results of the listing discussion will then be presented by each group representative,
where each group representative will write down 1 thing for what is needed in writing the
letter, and 1 thing in the structure contained in the letter. In this case, we think that the
lesson plan that we have created can make students more active in discussing and can make
students interested in learning activities. In this activity, we also assume that during the
listing activity, there will be Language Focus activities, either explicitly or implicitly.

After the above activities are carried out, the next activity is to provide stimulants to
students to better understand how to write letters and also their structure. We facilitate this
activity by the way the teacher distributes rumpang letters which are distributed in each
group. Next, the teacher asks students to discuss and fill in the gaps. In this case, each
student is asked to discuss with his group about the gaps. After the students discuss with
their groups, the teacher conducts a joint discussion regarding the blank letter that has been
filled in. After the discussion is over, the teacher asks students to write letters to
congratulate their friends using letters. This lesson plan is included in the TBT because in this
lesson plan the teacher does not provide much interaction to students. The teacher only
provides a video and then the students express their thoughts through the video.
