Unit 3 Patterns

The document discusses different mathematical patterns involving addition and subtraction. It covers iterative patterns like rangoli and pulli kolams created through repeating shapes and colors. It also explores addition facts through tables showing the sums of adding numbers 1-19. Patterns in repeated addition as multiplication are mentioned. Finally, division is framed as repeated subtraction through worked examples breaking down problems like 24 ÷ 3 and 22 ÷ 2.

Unit – 3 Patterns

Iterative patterns and processes

 Iteration is the repeated application of a process.
Examples:

Rangoli
 Rangoli is created by the growing patterns of colours and shapes.

Example:
Pulli kolams
 Pulli kolams are created by drawing straight lines and curved
lines along the pulli (dots).

Activity: Draw one Simple rangoli and one simple pulli kolam
