Session 2 (Types of Verbs & Cases)


Verbs can be categorized into the following 4 main
types with regards to weak letters, non weak letters
etc, that may come in the Faa, Ayn or Laam Kalimah:

1 – Saheeh )‫ (ص َِيح‬e.g. ‫جُع يجُع‬َ َ َ َ

ْ ْ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ
2 – Mahmooz )‫ (مه ُُوز‬e.g. ‫أم َر يأم ُر‬
َّ َ ُ ُ َ َّ َ
3 – Mudha’af )‫ (مضعف‬e.g. ‫حج يَج‬
َْ ُ ْ ُ َْ َ َ ُ َ َ َ َ
4 – Mu’tal )‫ (معتل‬e.g. ‫ َعد يدعو‬، ‫َجد ي ِجد‬
ُ ْ َّ ُ ْ ْ َ
The Saheeh Verb )‫(ال ِفعل الص َِيح‬
 The Saheeh verb is a verb that does not have a weak
letter )‫(ا َ ي‬, a Hamza or a doubled letter (letter with a
Shaddah) in the Faa, Ayn or Laam Kalimah.

 All the verbs studied previously were all Saheeh


verbs.

 Students should refer to all those verbs and their


inflections.
The 3 Cases for verbs

 There are no cases for past tense )‫(الفعل الُدض‬


and the imperative verbs )‫( ِفعل األمر‬. ْ
 There are 3 cases for the present / future tense
َ ُ ُ ْ
verb )‫الفعل الُض ِدرع‬
ِ ُ (ْ .َ They
َْ are the case of Raf’a,
Nasb and Jazm )‫(الجزم‬.
 All ‫ الفعل الُضدرع‬studied so far were in the case of
Raf’a
َ ُ ُ ْ ْ َّ َ
‫الفعل الُضدرع‬
ِ in the Case of Nasb )‫(النصب‬
The Present / Future Tense verb will exist in the case of Nasb when one
َ comes before it:
of the following 4 letters (particle – ‫)ح ْرف‬

َْ
1 – ‫( أن‬Translated as ‘to’ or ‘that’ based on its usage)
ْ َ
2 – ‫( لن‬Translated as ‘not’ or ‘never’ based on its usage)
ْ َ
3 – ‫( إذن‬Translated as ‘then’ or ‘in that case’ based on its usage)
ْ َ
4 – ‫( ك‬Translated as ‘so that’ or ‘in order to’ based on its usage)
َ ْ

ِ َ‫أ ِريد أن أزَر‬

‫أتعلم‬

‫إذن ترب ح ِتجدرتك‬
