5. A four storied residential building situated at Chennai is having 4 bays @ 4m c/c in x-
direction and 5 bays @ 5m c/c in y-direction.Total height of building is 5m ( 4.5m at base
and 3.5m each for other stories). The building is supported on raft foundation resting on hard
soil. The frame is infilled with brick masonry.The weight due to all dead load is 12kn/m2 on
floors and 6kn/m2 on the roof.The floors are to center for live load of 3kn/m2 on floors and
1.5kn/m2 on the roof. Determine and design seismic load on the structure.
6. Discuss briefly the various codal provisions for the dynamic analysis of a building.
