CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Technology advancements assist resorts operators in

surviving the industry's escalating rivalry. To automate their

business operations and services given, resorts have adapted the

usage of digital systems and software. For resorts to be

successful, they require visitors. Conventionally, guests make a

personal trip to the resort they desire to stay at in order to

make reservations for rooms. This approach takes too much time

and work from the visitor. The existing approach might also have

issues with walk-in visitors who can't reserve rooms because they

don't know in advance if the hotel can still accommodate them

(Islam 2020).

To improve the resorts' customer services, the researchers

proposed a web-based resort management system for the selected

resort of their study. The idea seeks to offer resort visitors a

platform where they may quickly, accurately, and easily reserve

their itinerary and lodging in advance. The manual method, which

is prone to several difficulties, will be replaced by the

proposed technology. The guest will utilize the system to plan

and reserve their stays at the resort in advance. The system will

also be used by the resort management to handle guest

reservations. The resort can increase revenue and enhance the

overall experience of its visitors by using the system.

The responders, target users, and a panel of IT experts will

all be given the opportunity to provide feedback after the

proposed system has been constructed. In order to ensure smooth

functionality and operation, the application will go through the

verification and testing process. IT professionals will also

assess the application to make any necessary improvements.

Quite Place Resort is a resort located at KM. 14, Barangay

Tabunan, San Juan St. Dakbanwa sang Bago, 6101 Negros Occidental.

The resort uses a Conventionally, resort visitors contact the

hotel directly to ask questions and make reservations. Both the

resort visitors and the receptionist must expend considerable

time and effort using the aforementioned technique. Additionally,

customers are unable to compare the amenities offered by similar

resorts. As a manual management process, the resort management

must keep track of customer information and bookings on paper,

which is extremely difficult for the Management Group.

Additionally, Management must verbally explain to the customer

all other information, such as availability, amenities, and

prices.
The resort industry will gain a lot from the deployment of

the proposed system. The hotel can welcome more visitors each day

and handle their requests and reservations with ease.

Additionally, resort visitors can easily make reservations

without expending a lot of time or effort.

Objective of the Study

The main objectives of this study is to design and develop a

Web based Resort Management System to help automate the manual

system/operation of the Quite Place Resort.

Specifically, this study aims to:

1. To create an automated system for resort services,

particularly reservations that will enable guests to make

electronic reservations for resort rooms during their visit.

2. To develop system that will offer a quick way to check the

availability of reservations and enable resort businesses to

access a large number of tourists.’

3. To provide a fast, accurate, and hassle-free manner process

for the guest.

4. To generate reports of the monthly or annual services of the

resort for auditing for the owner of the resort.

Scope and Limitation

The main purpose of the "Web-based Resort Management System

for The Quite Place Resort" proposed project was to create,

develop, and put into use a web-based system for the resort's

customer services specially on serving of customer using

management modules. The system will include options for making

dates-based reservations, selecting preferred accommodations, and

deciding how long a guest should stay at the resort.

Since they are the project's intended users, resort visitors

and personnel are the study's respondents. This will be focus

only on Resort purposes and only be modified on other purposes

based on the needs of the resorts. The system will be use only on

business purposes. The system also limited on the part of web-

based system but other features can be added but for the

meanwhile it will be focus on web-based features.

Significance of the Study

The study will offer a more thorough and detailed step-by-

step tutorial on how to properly write the Capstone Project

manuscript to the BS Information Technology and BS Information

Systems of (School). The following will unquestionably profit

from it:
Adviser. The advisor can direct the group in the appropriate

formatting and preparation for the manuscript's writing.

Project Capstone Instructor. The research will be practical

for the instructor's workload because the appropriate format is

provided, which will the time spent reviewing the document again.

The panelists. The study will serve as a panel's guidance.

members to assist them as they once again review the manuscript's

format know how to write things properly and correctly.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES AND STUDIES

The important literature and studies that served as the

foundation for the creation of the study were covered in this

chapter. The relevant studies and literature are crucial because

they provide a solid foundation for the researchers' argument for

creating system proposals.

Foreign Related Studies

These are research and writings about the planned system

that were produced outside of the nation.

The Introduction of Innovative Concepts in the Management System

of the Sanatorium-Resort Enterprise in the Context of Ensuring

Socio-Economic Security

According to the study of Buryk (2019) from the Vasyl

Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, generic problem

statement and its applicability to significant practical or

scientific challenges. Significant changes in the sanatorium and

resort complex, the development of market approaches to the

management of sanatorium and resort enterprises, and the

introduction of new technologies in resort service have all been

influenced by the radical transformation of the state socio-

economic system of Ukraine over the last two decades, significant

economic transformations, and changes in the organizational and

legal forms of economic entities. The position of the sanatorium-

resort complex in the public relations framework has also

shifted, which has aided the state's systematic (and mostly

financial) exit from this field. The level of state regulation of

the sanatorium and resort sector has decreased, and as a result,

both the availability and quality of sanatorium and resort

services now depend on how well-functioning specific components

of the sanatorium and resort complex are. Innovative business

conditions need market participants to engage in high levels of

business activity and new management system concepts. However,

given the aforementioned research's current state of growth,

attention should be paid to problems that are still open and need

more theoretical and practical development. These include

researching cutting-edge ideas for the administration of resort

and sanatorium operations in the context of social and economic

stability.

Web Based Hotel Reservation / Management System for Namala

Holiday Resort (Namala HMS)

Based on the study conducted by Silva (2017) on the city of

Namala, due to a lack of knowledge, a disinterest in

sophistication, the current ability to manage business needs with

manual operations, a slow uptake of computerization or any other

technological approaches, management of catering, restaurants,

and small hotels / motels is mostly done manually in Sri Lanka.

However, the anticipated business improvement would need for

management system improvement, which computer technology use will

undoubtedly help with. For Namala Holiday Resort in Dambulla, a

computerized business management system was created in this

regard. An established hotel with lots of devoted patrons is

Namala Holiday Resort. It is a result of its setting, amenities,

and level of service, and as a result, its well-deserved

reputation. The demand for Namala hospitality services has grown

in comparison to that seen a few years ago due to the popularity

of domestic travel and the rise in the number of foreign tourist

groups.

Resort Development in Facing Trend and Technological Changes

The study conducted by Sahea, Saerang, and Pandowo (2021) in

the field of International Business Administration, Management

Department of Sam Ratulangi University Manado, today's business

environment is characterized by an escalating level of rivalry,

particularly in the management of corporate business units. This

is seen with the emergence of businesses selling high-quality

goods. A strategy that the company seeks to implement in an

effort to face the trends and technological changes that are

advancing quickly in the current era, so the company can still

face the developments that occur, is one of the efforts made by

the company to overcome the intense competition in marketing. The

demand from tourists for goods and many related facilities from

providers of tourism services (travel agents, accommodation,

restaurants) makes tourism a sign of the economy. These companies

must now compete in previously unheard-of circumstances. They

must not only compete with other resorts but also endure the

Covid-19 pandemic, which has already expanded to Indonesia and,

in this case, Manado, as well as the rest of the world. Since the

epidemic ultimately affects all aspect of society, many types of

companies were impacted, but resorts were particularly hard hit

by the Covid-19 problem. Many businesses have closed, and many

more are struggling with cash flow, raising concerns about how

many will survive the current recession. Further research is

required to identify the answer, which must take into account the

issue with regard to the trends and technologies that will be

used within the resort. This inspired the title of the piece,

Analysis Development Resort of Facing Trend and Technological

Changes, which expands on the issue.

Local Related Studies

These are the studies and books that were published in the in

relation to our suggested system.

Waste Management System and its Effects on the Water Quality of

an Ecotourism Destination in Caramoan, Camarines Sur, Philippines

The students of Industrial Technology Development Institute

in University of the Philippines – Los Banos, in the studied

conducted by Moico, Florece, Ancog, and Cereno (2019)

particularly for the population of Paniman, tourism has grown to

be a significant source of income and employment in Caramoan.

However, this industry's enormous demand has put the local

ecology in danger. To maintain the environment and its tourism

services, which are their main source of income, the waste

management system must be reinforced through community

involvement and efforts. The study's conclusions include the

following recommendations: promote community-based tourism;

strict establishing proper sewage treatment facilities,

establishing tourist information centers, encouraging backyard

composting, strengthening information education campaigns (IEC),

implementing policies on waste management, involving households

in their effective implementation, providing tourism-related

trainings to improve lodging services, and resorts conformity

with the accreditation for the accommodations. The popularity of

the location increased dramatically after it was highlighted in

the program, as did the number of tourists that visited. The

municipality's economy was helped by the tourism sector, which

also provided local residents with opportunity to earn money.

Over time, changes in the physical, environmental, and social

dynamics became apparent. Shorelines saw the extensive

construction of resorts, farmers transitioned to tourism-related

businesses and services, and issues with waste management

surfaced. In one of the municipality's communities, the waste

problem, which was getting worse, became the most difficult. This

study was carried out to evaluate the community's waste

management practices and how they impact the quality of the

coastal waters. The findings showed that while the local

government unit had poor policy execution, the community and

tourists placed a high value on proper trash management.

Hotel and Resort Customer Assistant

According to the study of Dela Cruz, Petalio, Amata, and

Olano (2017) that is conducted in Ateneo de Naga University,

Penafrancia Resort's rooms lack telephones, guests who wished to

order food or request services had to walk to the Administration

Office or locate close staff members wandering the resort, which

gave the researchers the idea for this study. Additionally, the

interview revealed that there are only a certain number of staff,

and landlines are unreliable for ensuring that conversations

between two parties are clear. So, the researchers made the

decision to turn it into a program. A more practical software

would allow clients to place orders and make specific requests

while still in their own rooms. Customers won't have to deal with

the inconvenience of having a conversation on a phone that is

occasionally choppy and interrupted by background noise. The

application itself will supply all the information in the system

and will establish a practical manner of entering and monitoring

data. The project also included viewing and updating the orders

for the resort administration to use. The researchers opted to

add a booking system to the project in order to make the most of

its advantages and avoid not being able to get the preferred

rooms since they are already booked. Additionally, it will

contain a function that will show the payment instructions.

Implementation of Predictive Crime Analytics in Municipal Crime

Management System in Calauan, Laguna, PhilippinesImplementation

of Predictive Crime Analytics in Municipal Crime Management

System in Calauan, Laguna, Philippines

According to the study of Asor and Sapin (2020) that is

conducted in the Computer Science and Engineering Building at

Laguna State Polytechnic University, crime is an illegal behavior

that is subject to legal penalties, and it is an indicator of how

well the nation's governance is doing. Being objective helps

moral consciousness to evolve over time. Crimes are not always

evenly dispersed throughout a region; they might occur

unexpectedly, and some places actually see less crime than

others. The vast spread of criminality in society could pose a

number of challenges for the expansion of the economy. The

casualties involved in an incident are considered to be the

victims of a crime, which is divided into two categories: index

crimes and non-index crimes. The initiative develops a key

technique to build a concept that can benefit the neighborhood.

Thus, the creation of a Municipal Crime Report Management System

with Predictive Crime Analytics for the potential advice of

policy was put into practice. It was discovered that the PNP may

substantially benefit from employing predictive crime analytics

to produce strategic planning based on historical data. Regarding

crime forecasting, it has been found that multinomial logistic

regression can aid in identifying patterns in the distribution of

crime incidents. Additionally, in order to prevent analytic bias,

the data set used to display the anticipated crime must normally

include an equal number of observations from each category. It

has been determined that using a simple map can aid and better

grasp the potential crime as opposed to using GIS or a visual map

that depicts the tagged place. The system is easier to grasp for

any type of user when exhibiting the probabilistic report of a

potential crime with some graphical representation records, such

as a table, ranking by the highest to the lowest rate, and

offering pie graphs as showing the comparative data of analytics

crime.

Synthesis

Based on the information gathered by the proponents from

different literature and studies related to the topic have

similar problem when it comes to the management system of the

target local host. In summary and significance, the goal of

reviewing related literature and studies is to examine other

online systems and learn from them in order to design a system

that is more comprehensive and effective. These studies talk

about using them in developed systems. favorable characteristics

of the designed online system. Every system has its strengths and

weaknesses, it is concluded after studying the relevant

literature and studies. These internet reservation platforms

serve much the same function, allowing visitors to book rooms

online. However, some systems provide tourists additional

beneficial features in addition to online reservations. It is

therefore hoped that May may find relevant information from the

online reservation system. It is therefore hoped that May may

find relevant information from the online reservation system.

After researching existing online systems, a new function is

introduced to the system under development. The function is to

give employees a "back office" to manage the booking of and

lodging for the customer and guest of the resort. Additionally, a

tool allows housekeepers to view their daily schedule of tasks.

The created system has been enhanced to offer additional

capabilities in addition to the existing online reservation

system's functionality.

This study is being done to understand why those in favor of

the proposed system believe it will benefit resort management.

The Resort Management System is fully expandable and created to

offer a wide range of options and significant flexibility. The

typical resort, e-commerce, and hotel reservation software

solutions currently in use are technically intended to fulfill

just one specific objective function, namely to link buyers and

sellers. This study primarily concentrated on delivering

retailing business applications using computerized systems that

allow businesses to track services and strive to give precise and

dependable processes on every transaction, notably in a resort &

hotel reservation. This study investigated the effects of modern

technology use on our daily life. With the assistance of these

studies, our beneficiaries will be able to distinguish between

the use of manual systems and the current generation of

computerized systems; our top priority will be to provide them

with accurate information. The resort management system is made

to handle all forms of direct guest hotel booking. You may

dynamically control the majority of your resort management system

using the resort management system for the Quite Place Resort in

order to provide all the services the resort has to offer.

CHAPTER III

DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

The study's approach is demonstrated and explained in this

chapter. This chapter aims to present the research methods,

resources, and instruments used in this study.

System Development Method

Theories are formulated to explain, predict and understand

the phenomena, to test the knowledge within the limits of

critical assumption. The theoretical framework is the present and

defines the theories that explain why the problem of this

research exists. The proponents conducted an interview to gather

data for the proponents guide to build the proposed system

In the development of system, we have used Waterfall method,

the linear sequential mode. This model encompasses the following

step.
Figure 1.0: SDLC Waterfall

Requirement

In this step, the proponents gathered requirements, with the

goal of determining how these will be accommodated in the system.

The proponents looked for the locale to be used as our resources

in our system and gathered information by means of interview to

be analyzed to our next step.

 Brainstorming

 Survey Questionnaire

 Participant Interview

 Research for the Topic

Analysis

The proponents analyzed the needs and availability of our

chosen locale before designing any application. The proponents

also analyzed the locale’s problem which is necessary to design

any solution.

Design

In this phase the proponents tried to focus on some

attributes of a program like entities, data structure, and

interface representation. In this we tried to translate

requirements into representation of the software which can be

assessed for quality before coding begins. Such as ERD for

graphical representation of entities and their relationship to

each other, then we also use DFD for representation of the flow

of the data through an information system this diagram we can

identify the how data flow of the proposed system. and USE CASE

is a list of action of the interaction between a role in this

diagram we can identify the who will be the users of the proposed

system.

Coding

In this step, we translated the design of the system into

code which can be compiled and executed. We have done coding for
all forms and make sure to produce simple program which are clear

to understand.

Testing

Each of us have executed program on some test data and

output of the program examined to determine if there are any

error present. While doing this step, one of us have to read the

code carefully to detect any discrepancies between the design

specification and the actual implementation.

Acceptance

This is the step wherein we have to put the system into

final application which is followed by feedback and support.

Operational Framework

The data operational process is informed by the operational

framework. This makes it easier for readers and researchers to

interpret and comprehend how the various application data

processes and connections between the instruments work.

The connection between the database server and the internet,

the web and mobile devices, and the internet and the user are

depicted in the above diagram. Although it appears in the above

chart that our system is connected to the internet just to update

the program, our system is actually offline.
