Plan of investigation
The topic is “sports”. The sub-topic “sports and the coleration with academic success” is an issue
that not everyone knows of which is why I have chosen this topic to research on. Many students
play sports not knowing it's a positive relationship with health and academic achievement. It also
enhances academic achievement through parental support and self-esteem.

As a student of English, this research will enhance my ability to use standard English,
develop my writing and comprehension skills. The way I intend to collect the information for
this SBA through, poem.

Ben’s talk highlights the many benefits of playing sports, focusing on how it can lead to greater
academic achievement whilst also reducing mental health issues.

Reflection 1
The first article that explored my topic, ‘sports and the coleration with academic success,’ was
an expository news report (The Haroona Qurban, 2018) which highlighted that the Relation
between Sports Participation and Academic Achievement: The Mediating Role of Parental
Support and Self-Esteem. Previous studies have provided evidence that sports participation has a
positive association with cognitive and physical health.

A similar theme was evident in the video (TEDx Talks, 2020) which highlights the many
benefits of playing sports, focusing on how it can lead to greater academic achievement whilst
also reducing mental health issues. He uses his personal experience of being

The final piece of data that I examined was the poem, ‘Our Legacy.” by Martin Dejnicki. The
lines in this poem aptly describe the motivation of sports and the academic success towards
students. It shows me that students can actually do their best in both if they put their mind to it.
