1.6 Duct Materials:
Ducting is generally formed by folding sheets metal into the desired shape.
Traditionally air conditioning ductwork is made of galvanized steel, next in popularity is
aluminum. Other metals used under special circumstances are stainless steel. Metals that
are used extensively depend on the application of the duct and are listed as below:

1.7 Sheet Metal Duct Gauges:
1.7.1- 1ow pressure:
a. Low pressure duct work is defined as ductwork in the system where velocities do
not exceed to 10 m/sec and static pressures do not exceed 500 Pa at fan discharge.
b. All low pressure ductwork shall be galvanized steel, except otherwise specified,
with gauges as following and constructed as braced so not to deform, break of fail
to support its own weight.
