MOM week 2 session 1

1: yesterday, in the computer class I talked English to Max but switched immediately into Dutch
when Florian asked me a question without noticing. I don’t think it had any impact on Max or Florian
because we three weren’t having a conversation.

2: When I speak English to Florian it feels really awkward. So I often switch back to Dutch.

3: When other non-Dutch speakers are around I will speak English to not exclude anyone. But when I
know there are no Dutch-speakers around I will switch back to Dutch.

4: For me it isn’t that unnatural to speak English at school. University is so different from secondary
school that I don’t’ really make a connection between the two. This is a new environment where you
have to talk in English.

5: This isn’t the case for me. I only switch to Dutch when I’m speaking to a fellow Dutch person.

6: It wasn’t that stressful for me. If everyone could speak English very well it would make me quite
unsure about my English skills but I feel like we’re all at the same level (with some outliers of
course).
