Backgroun You have been selected as a Front Office Assistant of a 5 star
d or Hotel. As part of your six months Probation you will undergo
Scenario on the job exposure in Accommodation Operations & handle
various situations which are typical to Hotel operations. On
successful completion of this period you will be deputed as a
Front Office Supervisor with independent responsibilities.
Keeping this in mind you should take a lot of initiative &
approach your assignments in an individualistic & creative

trace its history right from the time of its inception. Also compare the facilities

Accor Was Founded In 1963 By Paul Dubrule And Gérard Pélisson In Paris, France. In
1967, They Founded The Hospitality Group Société D'investssement Et
D'exploitaton Hoteliers (Shieh) And Opened The First Novotel Hotel Outside Lille In
Northern France. Novotel, Inspired By American Motels, Was A New Concept In
France, Between High-End Palaces And Independently Operated Hotels, Offering
Comfortable Rooms, A Restaurant And A Parking, With An Industrialization Model
For Rapid Growth. In 1983, Novotel-Shieh Acquired And Merged With The Group
Jacques Boral International To Create The Accor Group, Which Was Introduced To
The Paris Stock Exchange The Same Year. Sebastian Bazin (Born 9 November 1961)
Is A French Businessman. He Is The Chairman And Chief Executive Officer Of Accor
Hotels.

The Foundations Of The Oberoi Group Date Back To 1934 When The Rai Bahadur
Mohan Singh Oberoi, The Founder Of The Group, Bought Two Properties: The
Maidens In Delhi And The Clarke's In Shimla. The Two Major Holding Companies Of
The Oberoi Group Are Eih Ltd And Eih Associated Hotels (Formerly East India
Hotels). P.R.S. Oberoi Is The Current Chairman Of The Oberoi Group. His Son,

Ques2. Explain how the Housekeeping department contributes towards earning


hotel revenue. Write your findings below. The findings should not exceed 10-15
sentences. Also, describe a standard room in a hotel, exhibiting the basic amenities

Ans. The Housekeeping Department Is Responsible For Cleanliness, Maintenance,


Aesthetic Upkeep Of Rooms, Public Area, Back Area And Surroundings Of The Entire
Hotel. The Housekeeping Department Not Only Prepares
Clean Guestroom On A Timely Basis For Arriving Guest, But Also Cleans And
Maintains Everything In The Hotel So That The Property Is As Fresh And Attractive
As The Day It Opened For Business. Housekeeping, Thus, Is An Ancillary Department
That Contributes In A Big Way Towards The Overall Reputation Of A Property.
Revenue Earned From Hotel Room Sales Accounts For More Than 50% Of Total
Hotel Sales And Almost 60% - 70% Of The Net Profit.

Standard Room:-
A Standard Room Comes In The Category Of The Hotel’s Cheapest Room. It Is A
Type Of Single Room, Which Has A King-Size Bed, Or As Two Beds — This Room Is
Decorated With Two Queen-Size Beds. A Standard Room Includes All Kinds Of Basic
Facilities Such As A Table, Chair, Desk, Cupboard, Dressing Table, DVD Player,
Television, Telephone, Coffee Maker And A Private Bathroom. Offerings Other
Amenities In The Standard Room Also Depend On The Type Of Hotel. For The
Example, Two-Star Hotels Can Provide Slightly More Than The Basics. The Standard
Rooms Of A Five-Star Hotel Include Fat-Screen Tvs, Separate Bars, Expensive Bath
Tubs And Designer Interior Decoration In The Room. The Hotel Marble City Has
Been Equipped With All These Facilities In All Standard Rooms.

scenario of the hotel industry. After analysing the guest supplies, amenities, décor
and cleaning standards, design a standard room for future.
