While this study doesn't explain why the brains of bees, chicks, and babies all converged in the

same left-to-right order, it does offer a possible answer: asymmetric brains. All three have brains
that process information differently in the left and right. "It could be an inherent property of these

If a general system for arranging numbers were really widespread, it would reveal surprisingly
how similar animal spirits are to our own. While some cognitive abilities seem unique to
humans, Giurfa believes that ignoring animal abilities is dangerous. “We are different from
