LAB NO. 1
LAB NO. 1
How to download/Install MATLAB and Peter Croke Robot Tool Box
OBJECTIVES:
• To know about MATLAB.
• To learn about the Robot Tool Box.
• To Install Robot Tool Box in MATLAB.

INTRODUCTION:
MATLAB:
MATLAB is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment
developed by MathWorks. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data,
implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other
languages. Although MATLAB is intended primarily for numeric computing, an optional toolbox uses the
MuPAD symbolic engine allowing access to symbolic computing abilities. An additional package, Simulink,
adds graphical multi-domain simulation and model-based design for dynamic and embedded systems. As
of 2020, MATLAB has more than 4 million users worldwide. They come from various backgrounds of
engineering, science, and economics.

ROBOT TOOL BOX:

The Robotics Toolbox is MATLAB toolbox software that supports research and teaching into arm-type and
mobile robotics. While the Robotics Toolbox is free software, it requires the proprietary MATLAB
environment in order to execute. A subset of functions has been ported to GNU Octave and Python.

PROCEDURE:
1. Firstly, download the Peter Croke Robot toolbox and then extract in a folder.

2. Then open MATLAB.

3. After that from the Ribbon click on ‘Open’, then go to the folder where the extract file is present, select
“Startup_rvc” and Press Enter.

4. A script file will open in MATLAB.

5. Then from the ribbon go to Editor and then click on ‘Run’. The command window will show the result.

CONCLUSION:
In this lab we got ourselves familiarized with MATLAB and Robot Tool box. Then we installed the Robot
tool box in MATLAB.
