FAn Balancing Report

This dynamic balancing report summarizes vibration measurements taken before and after balancing work on a primary air fan motor and fan. Vibration levels were highest at the fan's drive end bearing in the horizontal direction before balancing. Phase analysis identified an unbalance issue. Balancing procedures added trial and correction masses to reduce the horizontal vibration at the fan's drive end bearing from 7.0 mm/sec to 2.3 mm/sec, within normal ISO standards. Overall the balancing work reduced vibrations and improved the machine's health status from marginal to normal operating conditions.

Health Status : Marginal
Introduction:
1. As per ISO 10816 standards, the health status of the machine is in Marginal condition.
2. The maximum vibration velocity (Vrms) value is 7.0 mm/sec at Fan DE bearing in Horizontal
direction.

Analyzer used : CSI 2140

Data Interpretation:
1. Velocity signatures representing dominant peak at 1x , which indicates the symptoms of
Unbalance.
2. On further performing Phase Analysis, phase difference between FDE horizontal & FDE
vertical was found 118.6 indicating Unbalance .

Velocity Spectrum Fan DE : Horizontal (Original Run)

 Amplitude & Phase angle at 1x was found 6.6 mm/sec @121.4

 Phase difference between FDE horizontal & FDE vertical was found 118.6 indicating
Unbalance .

On the basis of this diagnosis we performed Balancing taking FAN DE Horizontal

direction as a reference point.

By the phase angle at FAN DE horizontal direction we find the heavy spot (@121.4) . So
we put 96 gms trail weight at this location to enhance the impact by 30% to see the
effect of Original and Trail (O+T) weight in next run.

Velocity Spectrum Fan DE : Horizontal (Original Run + Trial Run)

After Trail run, there was no significant change in Vibration but phase shifted from 121.4 to
59.1 at 1x

So, we removed the Trail weight & added Correction Mass of 90 gms at an angle of 302.3
against the rotation of fan from the trail weight location.

Velocity Spectrum Fan DE : Horizontal (Correction Mass)

After adding Correction mass of 95 gms, Vibration level was reduced from 6.4 mm/sec to
1.8 mm/sec at 1x .

Conclusion :

Overall Vibration at FAN DE in Horizontal direction reduced to 2.3 mm/sec

Measuring Point Vibration Before Balancing Vibration After Balancing

FAN DE Horizontal 7.0 mm/sec 2.3 mm/sec
FAN NDE Horizontal 3.7 mm/sec 2.1 mm/sec
