Simple Present Tense

Grammar #1: SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan kebiasaan, situasi yang


tidak berubah, kebenaran umum, instruksi/arahan, dan jadwal tetap. Simple
present tense sangat mudah untuk dibentuk. Gunakan saja kata dasar dari kata kerja:
(I take, you take, we take, they take). Bentuk orang ketiga tunggal (he, she, it)
menggunakan -s di akhir kata dasar. (he takes, she takes)

Simple present TIDAK digunakan untuk menyatakan tindakan atau


kejadian yang sedang terjadi saat ini/sekarang.

Contoh:

STRUCTURE

1) Positive Sentence

Subject + Verb (tambahkan -e, -es untuk kata ganti orang ketiga) + Object +
Ket. waktu/tempat

For example:

• Mary and I (Subject) go (Verb) to cinemas (Ket. Tempat) every Friday (Ket.
Waktu).
• She eats bread at breakfast.
• My brother Peter does (Verb “do” + -es) karate three days a week.
• Mr. Dean is a baker. He has a big bakery.

2) Negative Sentence

Subject + do/does + not + Verb 1 + Object + Keterangan waktu/tempat

For example:

• My sister does not like cucumber.


• We do not live in Bandung.
• My parents are not lawyers, they work in a school.

3) Interrogative Sentences

Do/does + Subject + Verb 1 + Object + Keterangan waktu/tempat + ?

For example:

• Does Tom go to school by bus?


• Do they like swimming?
• Does Mark visit his relatives in Jakarta?

REMEMBER: Pada kalimat negative dan


interrogative, verb TIDAK ditambahkan -s atau -es,
meski pada subject he, she, it sekalipun.
