First of all, Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah for giving us a chance to complete this
assignment. I am really grateful because I manage to complete this assignment within
the deadline given.
Last but not least, a special thanks to the other colleagues towards their kindness
to help me in needy condition. The final outcome of this report required a lot of
guidance and assistance from many people especially my fellow colleagues. This
assignment might not complete within the deadline without the co-operation from all of
them. I am very appreciate their kindness and commitment to complete this report.

INTRODUCTION
A successful entrepreneur prepared to face any obstacles that they had when
building their companies. Most common yet challenging obstacles that entrepreneur
facing are, overcoming bureaucracy, hiring talent, obtaining financing. In a nutshell
entrepreneur are people who effectively structure or lead their own business and
sustain them for development and thriving.

ENTREPRENEUR BACKGROUND
DATO’ JIMMY CHOO
Datuk Jimmy Choo is one of the famous and legendary fashion designer in
Malaysia. His real name is Choo Yeang Keat. He born 15 November 1948 in
Georgetown, Penang. Interesting fact about him is surname spelled wrongly. It should
be spelled Chew or Chow instead of Choo. He attended his primary school at Shih
Chung Primary School in Love Lane, Penang. He was born into a family of
shoemakers. His father was a spark of his passion as a shoemaker. Every day, he
watch his father made a shoe and even a custom made of shoe for kids and women at
shoes shop which is located in the Penang road. His father also teaches to design
and make shoes by letting him watched his work. He told Jimmy Choo to sit and
watch until he adapt the work environment. Jimmy Choo made his first pair of shoes
when he was 11 years old, a pair of slippers.

BUSINESS BACKGROUND
The company, JIMMY CHOO Limited was founded in 1996 by Jimmy Choo
himself and Tamara Mellon which is editor of Vogue. The company specialising in
luxury shoes, handbags, accessories and fragrances of man and woman. The brand’s
reputation as a celebrity favourite and royal descendants helped to expand the
business rapidly. It’s iconic for the wealthy and influential people as the brand portrays
a high class and finest quality.
The first Jimmy Choo store was opened in 1996 on Motcomb Street in London.
Two years later, the company extended to the United States, opening two stores in
New York City and Beverly Hills. He is even conquer the spot at the premier luxury
shopping destinations of the world’s most prestigious cities. For an example, Sloane
Street and Bond Street in London, Madison Avenue in New York. And Ginza in Tokyo.
Throughout the next years, Jimmy Choo extended its store portfolio by opening
straightforwardly worked stores and with a local partner. More than 2011 and 2012,
Jimmy Choo assumed responsibility for most of its Asian activities in China, Hong
Kong, and Japan.
A few boutiques are to be found in auxiliary outlets, for example, Saks Fifth
Avenue, just as more modest boutique stores on shopping domains. Choo sold his
half shares in the company to Equinox Luxury Holdings Ltd in 2001. Nowadays,
Jimmy Choo has over 600 design patents to its name. The company have been target
by most of the counterfeit imports in United Kingdom, United States, and Australia.
Overall, Jimmy Choo Limited dominate a woman luxury accessories brand especially
shoes.

PERSISTENCE
When he was studying in London, he could not afford to keep up his living
expenses and fees. He learned that, don’t put off something till you can finish it . And
keep working hard instead of giving excuses because people will learn not to trust you.
He become part time worker in a restaurant and shoe factory. He had to do odd jobs
at both places in surviving, such as cleaning the toilets and sweeping the floors.
Jimmy choo was a persistence guy and not willing to give up even his shoes
sales were not satisfying. Within 4 years, his business kept falling apart and almost in
bankruptcy, but that does not stop his imagination and creativity running wild. With his
determination, one of his shoe were finally recognized by Vogue Magazine which is
one of the famous magazine in UK. This was a huge deal for him as his shoes finally
get recognition from the world. The magazine shows it is a recognition that his shoes
are relevance and cultural importance to a publication that manages to remain aloof
while still relatable. Even the media and news began acknowledge Jimmy Choo
handmade shoes, his business still deteriorating.

CONCERN OF HIGH QUALITY OF WORK
Next, he is concern of high quality of work. His shoes design were up to par with
other superior brand like Chanel, Gucci, Dr.Marten and Essen in comfort, durability ,
material quality, and craftmanship. Jimmy Choo get the inspiration from the nature for
an example, tree, flowers and surroundings conditions such as interior design in the
place that he had visited. He is extremely meticulous about his shoe mold from the top
part, sole, and heels to ensure that his shoes design is balance so the customer feel
comfortable and safe even using a high heels. His shoes were so unique that Late
Princess Diana was interested in his shoes. When the fashion designer, Tomasz
Starzewski told Jimmy that he will met princess in 1990, he was so excited he could
not sleep that night. After the first introduction, they quickly became friends. Princess
Diana would call Jimmy Choo direct when she required shoes to matched with her
dress or to go foreign tour. Jimmy Choo lost count of how many pairs of shoes he
made for Princess Diana’s perfect size 6'1/2 feet. Over a period of seven years,
Jimmy's shoes are still Princess Diana’s favorite shoes that she wears.

SEES AND ACTS ON OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to this, the most transparent about jimmy Choo is how fast he acts
on opportunities he have. When he is eleven years old, he already made his first
shoes which was taught by his father. By that time, he made his mind to open his
business someday to show the world of his shoe design. He continued his studies
in shoe making and fashion field at Courtwainers College, London. His father had
to support his expenses for the first year. Jimmy Choo was relieved and promised
to study hard because he does not want to burden his family. He decided to work
part time as a cleaner in a restaurant and a shoes factory to support his financial
studies and to keep living. After the struggle he is been through, he managed to
graduate in 1983. In 1986 he sees an opportunities to start his business. He rent
an abandoned hospital in Hackney, North London to open shoe stores. Even his
shoes are high quality, no one would buy it as his store is not well known plus the
competition is high at that time. He was smart to find the opportunities to open the
busnuess even he knows the risk of it.
After his business increasing, Jimmy Choo founded Jimmy Choo Ltd with
Tamara Mellon, editor British to spread his influence. Tamara Mellon collaborated
with Jimmy Choo to begin an italian-based shoe manufacturing company to
fabricate shoes in enormous quantities. Jimmy Choo take another pace to extend
his business in 2001. He announced new shared agreement with a Equinox
Luxury Holdings Ltd, which acquired Jimmy Choo shares. Equinox Chairman and
CEO Robert Bensoussan became the CEO of Jimmy Choo organization. Jimmy
Choo sold a half stakes in the organization for 10 million dollar in order to focus
on Jimmy Choo Couture produced under a license from Jimmy Choo Ltd.

Finally, Jimmy Choo is the most responsible of his business. He is the main factor
for his ups and downs of his company. From accounting to marketing, to sales,
customer support, quality and promotion. Basically every thing that is going on
company, goes through him. Nearly every initiative in an organizations turns into a
project. Therefore, Jimmy Choo strives to understand and leverage formal project
management to guarantee ideal consummation and appropriate control of initiatives.
Since 1996, Jimmy Choo is not only sell a shoes but many fascinating accessories too.
For an example, perfume, handbag and even sunglasses. The reasons why Jimmy
Choo brands are still hot potato, is because of his design meet today’s consumers
style. The days style include leather mules, boots and sling backs. For the evening,
high heels, and handbag to make customer elegant and unique.
