KARAM-10 Perforation Program
KARAM-10 Perforation Program
WELL ENGINEERING
FAX
Objective:
Repeat BHPS during well opening followed by TDT to detect source of water with optional isolation and
reperforation as trial to bring well back on production.
History
The new well Karam-10 drilled as development & The main objective of Al Karam-10 well is to
produce KH-8 and 9, Appraise KH-10 and drill Alamien formation as exploration target. KH-8, KH-
9A and 9B were found partially depleted with lower quality than expected, Kharita 5, Kh 9-D and
9F were found good quality and virgin reservoir pressure. The well was perforated in flowing
underbalance conditions and tested over virgin pressure zones with initial gas rate 65.5 MMscf/d,
gross rate 411 bpd & WC 50% at FWHP is 3580 psi & choke size 64/64". Today the well the rate
declined to gas rate 17 MMscf/d, gross rate 509 bpd & CGR 14 bbl/STB & WGR 15.5 bbl/STB at
FWHP is 1530 psi & choke size 64/64", proposed to add perforation Kharita-8 formations to
increase the gas production by +/- 8 MMscf/d. we add perf in KH-7 and KH-3 as trial to increase
well production (5 RUNS) but showed no return even after diverting to flare (expected due to
water loading as opening the well to flare showed water return initially) so it is proposed to repeat
BHPS during well opening followed by TDT to detect source of water with optional isolation and
reperforation as trial to bring well back on production.

Job operation:
The next procedures are a basic guideline of what is to achieve in the field. Operational changes to
this program expected based on the best judgment available for the situation. Please consult ODW
before making any changed who will take the management verbal approval for any changes
Note: LSR sheet to be signed by both WSS & each Contractor's Supervisor.
1. Issue the PTW and be sure it is available on location during all operation.
2. Hold a safety meeting to discuss all the planned operations.
3. Record WHSIP & annulus "A" & "B" pressures and report it to ODW.
4. Carry out WIT operation by inflow test all X-mass tree valves or function test it by counting
no. of turns if there is no pressure @ surface.

11. Load carrier with 3 x 3 meters 2” CSG gun 2 SPF, Extra DP with addressable switches.
12. Make up the lubricator and Pressure test the broken joint (quick test sub) with hydraulic
pump to 6500 psi.
13. RIH with 3 x 3 meters 2” CSG gun 2 SPF, Extra DP with addressable switches and perforate the
following intervals respectively: (5005-5008), (5035-5038), (5060-5063).
14. Monitor any change in WHP, POOH to the surface.
15. L/D lubricator, check all shots fired and condition of tool BHA.
16. Keep the well shut in overnight,
Record SIWHP and communicate the pressure value with Halliburton to simulate the
pressure and decide the requirement for additional run.
Based on Halliburton simulation a second equalizing run may be required.
17. Load carrier with main perforation run - Gun length as per below table - of 2 3/4” DP CSG
gun HMX, 6 SPF, 60 Deg phasing, CSG Gun.
18. Make up the lubricator and Pressure test the broken joint (quick test sub) with hydraulic
pump to 6500 psi.
19. RIH main perforation run -Gun length as per below table- of 2 3/4” DP deep penetration CSG
gun, correlate the depth and perforate the interval -as per below table.
20. POOH to surface.
21. Close the swab valve counting the number of turns to ensure the tool string is inside the
lubricator.
22. Bleed of the lubricator pressure.
23. L/D lubricator, check all shots fired and condition of tool BHA.
24. Install test cap on the top of BOP.
25. Open the well for flowing to production flow line overnight.
26. Make sure the same stabilization pressure that was achieved from the first equalizing run
acquired before proceeding with the next run.
27. Do the same previous steps for all the below intervals underbalance condition.
Notes:
- SITHP should be recorded and reported to asset PT just before and after each run and
after completing POOH each run.

A. Learnings from previous critical jobs Must be done:
I. Avoiding gas bubbles:
Make new rope socket as per previously calculated weak point taking in considerations the
below new manufacturer instructions while re-heading.
Action Instructions
Before re-heading, peel the cable and insert in water, monitor the bubbles exiting form the
Perform bubble test before cable due to gas migration, if the bubbles are exiting from the conductor, wait a couple of
re-heading hours and re-do the test, if bubbles are exiting between inner and outer insulators (Go to
second action item)
Perform re-heading as While removing the insulation during re-heading, strip off a section of the outer layer of
insulation (revealing one inch of inner insulation layer) so that the boot or tape job terminates
per manufacturer new on the inner insulation only (Fig. 2). This will allow the gas and water to escape prior to
recommendation reaching the termination point.
Re-head to be done each two runs. Inner insulation to be changed each run.
II. Avoid stranded armor:
While RIH stop every 2000 ft. and wait for 30 seconds & come UP 100 ft. @ 30 FPM, and
wait another 30 seconds prior RIH again. This will alleviate cable torque. Every change of
speed (100 fpm -→0, or, from 0 -→ 100 fpm) must be achieved in not less than 30 second.
Abrupt acceleration or de-acceleration on this cable may loosen the cable. RIH and POOH
speed max 100 ft. /min. Proper Use of LINE WIPER: While POOH, Use line wiper if, and
ONLY IF, there is excess of grease on the cable. And, when needed, the amount of Pressure
applied should be limited by the increase on Line tension ONLY. Apply Line Wiper pressure
just enough to stop excess of grease. FE should monitor the increase of line drag (tension)
to a max of 50 lbs. (for Alloy lines) and 100 lbs. (for Standard GIPS lines).
While continue POOH, we may need to re-adjust the pressure on line wiper, once excessive
grease is noticed again on cable. Without stopping the line, release pressure, get a new
baseline and apply pressure to stop excess of grease again, maintaining the limits on
tension increase mentioned above. Repeat as needed while POOH. Continue to apply line
wiper until 200’ from surface. Stop winch cut line wiper, wait 5-min. Line wiper remains off
until surface. Do not Spud the line, while RIH/POOH, slow down at restrictions (NIPPLES),
when Changing directions and RIH/POOH: Use 80/120 rule for ALLOY CABLES. Position the
tool trap flapper slot to face the wireline truck; this will minimize the cable wear and tear.
Current set up is only on POOH when Tool is around 300 ft. from reaching the BOP.
