Mathematics
Quarter 2 – Week 5 - Competency 1

Laws of Exponents
NOTE: This is a draft material subject for further quality assurance and approval.

FOREWORD

This self-learning kit will serve as a guide on how to derive the laws of
exponent. The strategies and the activities presented herein will help
develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, thus making our learners
capable to apply the concept into a real-life situation.

If you encounter any difficulty understanding the concepts or

answering the tasks, please do not hesitate to consult your subject teacher or
ask the help and guidance of your parents, guardians or elders. It all comes
down to understanding of the subject. Each part of math is building on the
previous part. This applies to every area of your life, if you take the time to
understand something you will be able to do it with confidence and it will
become easy.

We hope that through this material, you will enjoy learning new ideas
and gain deep understanding of the relevant competencies. Explore the
world of mathematical concepts in relation to your everyday life!
