OATH-TAKING OF ELECTED OFFICIALS AND TURN OVER CEREMONY

PART I.

INTRO:

A poet once said, “Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of
their ability to empower others.” Thus, leaders become leaders when they can turn
visions into reality because great leaders are visionaries; they are not just thinkers but
doers.

Ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant morning to one and all. Today, June 27, 2022, we
shall witness the Oath-taking of Elected Officials who have won the hearts of our fellow
Maasinanons in this year’s elections. At the same time, Turn-over Ceremony shall
proceed after the officials have been solemnly inducted to the office. I am Alvin
Maghopoy and It is such a pride and honor to be your Master of Ceremony.

It is gratifying to look around and see everyone for this momentous occasion of the
Municipality of Maasin.
Before we begin, let me remind all of you to turn your cellphones to silent mode , make
yourselves comfortable, and be courteous by refraining from talking aloud. During the
other parts of the program, I encourage you to express your pleasure by applauding
and clapping.

Behold, Maasinanons, THE ENTRANCE OF COLORS!

To commence tonight’s event, let us all rise for the singing of the Philippine National
Anthem as our patriotic Salute to our National banner that symbolizes the bravery of
our heroes then and now. Let the intercession of God be with us through an invocation
to be performed by the Dungganon Chorale, followed by the singing of Maasin Hymn by
Miss Daphne Grace Alegroso. For these numbers, please remain standing.

We are lucky indeed that with us today to grace and witness our occasion, we the ever-
supportive 4th District Representative of the Province of Iloilo, Honorable Braeden John
Q. Biron and the newly elect Congressman of the district, ever assiduous and
hardworking, Honorable Ferjenel G. Biron. Thank you very much for your presence

We welcome and honor them with the same energy of applause.

Starting with this woman that champions education, a two-time Outstanding Science
Teacher of the Philippines, served as the Queen Mother of the Senior High School in the
province of Iloilo, one of the daughters of the late Tito M. Melicado and the late
Consolacion M. Melicado, Wife of the late Sir Virgilio Cartagena Billena. Ang iya mga
kabataan amo sanday Elaine, Doctor Jared, Carol Pauline MAderse, XZ Rendaje, Paul
Jesus, and Gershom Billena. Ladies and gentlemen, ang Suga sang banwa,

To proceed, here we have a first-timer in the local position, but has never been a first-
timer in public service. From the marines to his fellow Jeepney drivers, he has been a
productive leader. Anak nanday Mr Francisco Magarzo Cartagena and Mrs. Epifania
Baylen. The better half of Mrs. Julie Macarse Cartagena and they are blessed with these
children Frank Anthony, Faye Angeline, Fritz Anthony, and Francyn Angelie Macarse
Cartagena. With him today is his brother Reverend Father Allen Vic Cartagena and his
sister Kap Krizanne Grace Cartagena. Ladies and gentlemen, SB member Honorable
Anthony Francis Baylen Cartagena.

Following is the incumbent ABC President who will take one of the Sangguniang Bayan
seats in the afternoon of June 30, 2022. With his unwavering passion for serving
together with his fellow Barangay captains, Wala sang impossible basta kita

Of course, isa man sa mga first timers naton, pero we are assured that his genuine

Nangin tingog ini sang aton mga kabataan sa iya nga kapanahonan bilang SK federation
president sang banwa. It’s in the bloodline ang pagserbisyo sa banwa, sa Malaga nga
dugo, sigurado nga garantisado ang panghimanwa kag mga kinutuyo. Anak nanday late
Iniego Borra Sr. kag Ma’am Juliet Malaga Borra kag ginapanig-iyahan ni Mrs. Lovella Joy
Golingay Borra nga nagbunga sang ila pinalangga nga anak, Julianne Louise Golingay
Borra. Isa ka accountant kag second termer in the position, Mga MAASINANON, ang
AMIGO SANG BANWA, SANGGUNINANG BAYAN MEMBER HONORABLE JIMMY
MALAGA BORRA.

Ini isa man sa ginakilala gid nga pamilya sa banwa sang Maasin. Sa bug-os niya nga
kabuhi namulat na siya sa mga hinun-anon parte sa pulitika kag in inga mga bagay ang
nagpabutyag gid sang iya bug-os nga paghalad sang iya pagserbisyo sa banwa.
Champion sang Edukasyon nga sektor nga naghatag sang madamo nga kahigayunan sa
mga kabataan to be enriched with quality education that they deserve. Anak nanday
Former SB member Exmila Cajilig Mondejar and the late Francisco Besares Mondejar
SR. Together with him today are his better half, Mrs. Hope Palacios Mondejar and John
Paul Palacios Mondejar, their only son. Ladies and Gentlemen, Sangguniang Bayan
Member Honorable John Cajillig Mondejar.

And to complete the list of our Honorables in the Sangguniang Bayan council, here we
have a breath of fresh air and one of the most productive young leaders of today.
Despite her lineage in politics, she has always been emphasizing in her campaign that
SHE DOES NOT want others to be branded with any political names, but she wants to
build a name of her own and cement herself as a new breed of leaders in the
Municipality of Maasin. The only daughter of Incumbent Sangguniang Bayan Member
Honorable Arthur Maghopoy Villareal and Mrs. Susan Senina Villareal. Isa ka registered
Psychometrician and currently taking up her Juris Doctor para sa handom nga mangin
abogada sa iya banwang Pinili.
May I give you, Sangguniang Bayan Member Honorable Maria Keziah Senina
Villareal.

I hope everybody is still energized and enthusiastically excited. Here we are now closer
to welcoming the two big posts on the roster of elected municipal officials.

It has always been an honor to introduce this man who never gets tired of offering his
public service and who passionately loves his town, Maasin. There are greater
opportunities but he opted to give Maasin his medical and public service to the
Maasinanons and for him, this kind of service is the greatest of them all. Sa iya pag-
alagad sa aton banwa, nangin mas accessible ang bulong kag bulig medical sa aton
mga kasimanwa. Gane aton abi-abihon kag pagahatagan sang matunog nga palakpak,
ang Doktor sang Banwa, Vice Mayor Honorable Dr. Vicente Itik Artieda
Albacete.

Right on the aisle with him are his wife Dr. Mae F. Albacete kag ang iya mga kabataan,
Rose Margaret Cabrera, May Therese Rendon, Thomas Louie Albacete, and Victoria
Marcela Albacete.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, in his second term as the Mayor of this town, this man
has proven that despite how hard and tall the walls are, just as long as you are
courageous and unceasingly brave enough, there is no room for impossibilities. Sa iya
nga padayon nga pagpatigayon sang mga proyekto kag mga makabulohan nga
programa, ang aton banwa nangin mabinungahon kag makahambal ka sa kaugalingon,
TagaMaasin ako, kag Bugal ko nga tawgon Maasinanon. The past three years may have
flown so swiftly, but he made sure he would make us proud through his initiative and
legacy. Ladies and gentlemen, the man of the hour, ang
