DESIGNATION OF SCHOOL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND


MANAGEMENT OFFICE COORDINATOR

MEMORANDUM TO: KAREN M. CAOLE


POSITION TITLE: TEACHER II

In exigency of the service, you hereby designated as the SCHOOL DISASTER RISK
REDUCATION AND MANAGEMENT OFFICE COORDINATOR for the School Year
2019-2020 effective June 3, 2019, in addition to your regular teaching load. The designation
entails no additional renumeration.
You expected to perform the duties and responsibilities attached to your designation
and such related functions as may be assigned until such time that this designation is
revoked:
As SDRRMO Coordinator, you shall:
a. Acknowledge receipt of advisories and reminders from the SDS and/or the Division DRRM
Coordinator, and the local DRRMC.
b. Ensure the establishment of an Early Warning System (update the bulletin board for weather
advisories, bell/siren emergency signals
c. Conduct an annual student-led risk identification and mapping within and around the school
premises to ensure a safe environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
d. Sustain close coordination with the local DRRM Council on the conduct of preparedness
activities and on response needs, among others.
e. Provide DRRM capacity-building activities for teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.
f. Sustain or maintain, disseminate, and post relevant and updated emergency hotlines in strategic
locations throughout the school.
g. Post-conference discussion of safety and preparedness measures, as well as evacuation plans;

h. Conduct disaster preparedness measures, including but not limited to quarterly multi-hazard
drills applicable to the school’s identified hazards such as earthquake, fire, and flood;
i. Keep vital school records, learning materials, and other important documents safe.
j. Establish a school DRRM team to support the implementation of preparedness and response
measures.
k. Ensure the availability of updated baseline education data for the school.
l. Participate in regular school programs and activities, as well as the school improvement plan.
m. Pre-identify possible temporary learning spaces and alternative delivery modes of education.
n. Monitor the effects of hazards, including the use of the school as an evacuation center.
o. Track all school personnel during disasters and/or emergencies.
p. Prepare and submit reports on the effects of any hazard.
q. Ensure the implementation and guidelines for prescribing cancellation rules.
r. and suspension of classes and work in government offices due to typhoons, flooding, other
weather disturbances, and calamities.
s. Conduct rapid assessment of damage after every hazard and submit RADAR within 72 hours
via SMS and/or online application.
t. Facilitate the immediate resumption of classes to track learners.
u. Monitor recovery and rehabilitation interventions being implemented in the school
