The document discusses kernel components of the Windows operating system and their roles in process control. It specifically focuses on the I/O Manager, Power Manager, and Plug-and-Play Manager. The I/O Manager controls device drivers and links applications to devices. The Power Manager manages power states for devices in an orderly manner using a stack. The Plug-and-Play Manager detects when a device is connected. The document also provides details about the author's device such as available RAM, running application and system processes, and ways to terminate processes.

BSIT – A305 02 Task Performance 1 - ARG

Part 1.
1.) Recall the details about the kernel components of a Windows operating system (OS).
Based on the figure below, select three (3) Kernel component that you think are the most
significant in terms of process control.

a. I/O Manager
b. Power Manager
c. Plug-and-Play Manager

2.) Give one (1) sample process that can be executed by each kernel component
You have selected. Explain each sample process relative to its corresponding
Process control structure. Perform additional research if necessary.
a. The I/O manager is the I/O system's brain. It describes the architecture that enables
device drivers and links applications and system parts to virtual, logical, and physical devices.
b. All devices that enable power state changes are managed by the Windows kernel-mode
power management in an orderly manner. A sophisticated stack of devices controlling other
devices is frequently used to accomplish this.
c. Plug and Play (PnP) is a software and hardware combination that enables a PC to
detect when a device is introduced by the user.
Part 2.
a.) What is the operating system of the device?
- Windows(Computer)
b.) What is the total memory capacity(RAM) of the device?
- 16GB
c.) What is the available or remaining memory capacity (RAM) of the device?
- 8.35GB
d.) Enumerate five (5) Running application processes in the device Select applications that
consume high memory utilization. Indicate the memory allocation for each process.
- Valorant (2GB)
- Steam (197.MB)
- Dota2 (3GB)
- Microsoft edge (563.5MB)
- Microsoft Teams(786.3MB)
e.) Enumerate the (5) running background process or system processes in the device.
Select processes that consume high memory utilization indicate the memory allocation for each
process.
- Steam Client Web Helper (35.5MB)
- Microsoft edge (87.3MB)
- Spotify (20.6MB)
- Steam (33.9MB)
- Microsoft office(2.8MB)

f.) Which has higher memory utilization in your device. The background/system
Process or the application process?
- As you can see in my response to letter d, the application processes considerably
outweigh the background processes in terms of memory use, even though I only use one
program.
g.) Give three (3) possible ways to connect your device is to other devices. Describe Each
in one (1) sentence.
- The simplest method for connecting your phone is this. Simply insert the USB cord from
the phone into a suitable USB port on your computer, keyboard, or mouse, or into an adapter if
necessary. Some items can be wirelessly connected to your phone via Bluetooth.

h.) Does the process of connecting your device to other devices create new process? Why
or why not?
- Yes, a network is created when many computers are linked together so they can interact
with one another. Internet-related objects, or I/O.

i.) What are the possible effects of ending (force stop) multiple processes in your devices?
Elaborate on your answer.
- Most people think that when you remove an app on your phone the standard method,
which involves removing it from the app switcher, that the app is completely stopped. However,
it isn't always the case. Conversely, certain applications. They could keep actively delivering
messages and changing their material in the background.

j.) Describe the functionality of your device in the less-privileged mode.

- The user mode is a common name for the less privileged mode. due to the fact that user
programs would normally run in this mode. A process's access to the CPU and memory is
constrained while it operates in user mode.

k.) Identify atleast two (2) ways on how you can terminate processes in your device and
briefly describe each.
Ending a process might totally terminate a program, cause your computer to crash, and cause
you to lose any unsaved data. Stopping processes via the Task Manager will most likely
stabilize your machine. If at all feasible, it is always advised to preserve your data before
terminating a process.
