During the working week, the city of Bogota, Colombia, has 1,600,000
cars, 50,000 taxis, 9,000 buses and 500,000 motorcycles, but every Sunday,
the city closes 75 miles of highways to motorized vehicles, so Bogotanos
they have to leave their cars at home, but instead ride their bikes, roller
blades, scooters, wheelchairs, and skateboards.
And they walk!
At one stop, you can hear musicians playing Creole music, Andean music,
Afro-Peruvian music, etc. and at another stop there is marinera dance,
scissors dance, Peruvian morenada, huayno. In addition, there is food and
delicious, the paraditas and all kinds of art that we find for the fun stop.
It is a great idea, so the city stops having so many vehicles in its path and
gives way to humans to walk on the tracks, to transport themselves on
skateboards, bicycles, scooters, etc. The bike path is the moment when
motor vehicles give way to human beings, citizens take over the public
space of the city'.
