START UP

1) Turn “1” on.

This controls the power to the stand.

2) Turn “2” on.


This controls the power to the detector.

3) Turn “3” on.


This controls the power to the computer.
ULTRA software will automatically load.

MAKE SURE 1,2 & 3 ARE COMPLETELY UP BEFORE TURNING ON 4

4) Turn “4” on.


This controls the power to the generator.

SHUT DOWN
1) Turn“4” off.
2) Turn “3”off. DO NOT PRESS THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TOWER.

2a) Click the LOG OFF button in the top right corner.
2b) A confirmation box will appear:
2c) Click LOG OFF.

2 d) From Desktop, click the WINDOWS ICON then SHUT DOWN.

3) Turn“2” off.
4) Turn “1” off.

PERFORMING AN EXAM WITHOUT A WORKLIST
1. Select your Technologist(s):

2 . Click NEW.

3. Enter all information in the required RED boxes.

4. Press the TAB button, or


click on the Procedure box
and select your exam.

5. Click on your exam then click CHOOSE


or double-click your exam.

6. You will do the same for the Referring Physician box, or you can manually type in their
name.

7. If you need to add another exam click [add exam] and select another procedure.

8. When you have added all exams at the bottom right of the screen.

THIS WILL TAKE YOU TO THE ACQUISITION SCREEN

When you
select the
view you
want to
do, the
radiation
symbol will
appear in
that box,
showing
that it is
active.

9. Select the correct body habitus of your patient for the appropriate technique.

10. Position your patient and shoot your first image.


The radiation symbol will automatically jump to the next view while the image is processing.
Once it has moved to the next view, you will be able to hit MOVE on the remote and the stand
will move to the next position.

11. Continue the procedure until you have acquired all the images needed.

12. See The Exit Button page for options to end the exam.

THE EXIT BUTTON

1. When you are finished with your exam(s), click the EXIT button in the bottom right hand
corner of the acquire screen.

ROTATING AN IMAGE IN SMALL INCREMENTS
1. Left-click once on the ROTATE IMAGE button to activate the function.
(Background will turn green.)

3. Drag your mouse to rotate the image to the desired angle.


4. Release the mouse button.

The ROTATE IMAGE button will no longer be active once the mouse button has been released.

CHANGING THE NAME OF A VIEW

1. Click on the IMAGE that you want to change.

2. Click on the CHANGE VIEW button.

If you can’t see

4. Select the correct name of the view and click CHOOSE.

5. The view will then be changed to the correct name and reprocess the image.

ADDING A VIEW DURING AN EXAM
1. Click on the ADD VIEW button.

3. Select the correct view you want to add and click CHOOSE.

4. The view will then be added to the bottom of the procedure box.

Move/Copy/Resend Image (Archive)

1. From the WORKLIST, COMPLETED TAB OR BY ADDING A NEW PATIENT, select the
patient you want to recover the image for.

2. Click ACQUIRE.

3. In the acquire screen, select the ARCHIVE


button in the lower right corner.

4. This box
will appear.

*Locate the patient


that you want
to recover the
image(s) for.

5. Double-click or select the image and click the RECOVER button at the bottom of the list.
*If you have multiple images to recover, then you can hold down the control button and
left-click the images you need.
Then click RECOVER.

6. Image(s) are restored to the bottom of the selected procedure box in the acquire screen.
Use the post-processing tools as needed and accept the image(s).

SHUTTERING
THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT WAYS TO CORRECT A MISSED SHUTTER:

1. Manually adjust either the corners or lines to the appropriate shape.


When you hover over either one of these, they will turn blue.
This means that you can drag them freely.

2. Draw your own shutter box by right-clicking the shutter icon, then left-clicking 3 dots in a
clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

BURNING TO A CD/USB

1. Select your patient from


the COMPLETED tab.

2. Click the MORE button.


3. All procedures for your selected patient will be highlighted.
Deselect any procedures you do not wish to burn by clicking on them.

4. Click on the button to burn images to a CD.


Click on the button to burn images to a USB.

5. Your burn options will appear in the middle of the screen:

Include Viewer: Should always be selected


so that the CD can run on other computers.

Anonymize DICOM: Deletes the patient’s


name and demographics. (Great for students!)

Compression: Select for patients with


many procedures or images.

4. Insert a CD into the drive and select START.

5. The process will show at the top left corner of the screen in this order:

6. Check the CD in another computer to ensure that the data was correctly
burned.

MOUSE FUNCTIONS
ZOOM IN - Scroll wheel up.
ZOOM OUT - Scroll wheel down.
PAN - Click and hold the wheel, then move your mouse.

WINDOW/LEVEL - Left or Right-Click

REMOTE FUNCTIONS

1. Click on the OPTIONS button in the top right corner of the home screen.

TOOLS & ANNOTATIONS TAB
1. Click on the TOOLS & ANNOTATIONS tab.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

To Add:
1. Click ADD under the section you need.
(Annotations, Technologists, or Rejection Reasons)
2. Type in the annotation/tech’s name/rejection reason.
3. Click APPLY.

To Delete:
1. Select the annotation/tech’s name/rejection reason.
2. Click REMOVE.
3. Click APPLY.

To Edit:
1. Select the annotation/tech’s name/rejection reason.
2. In the “Entry” box, edit the text.
3. Click APPLY.

WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED WITH ALL EDITING, CLICK OK.

CREATING OR MODIFYING PROCEDURES

1. Click on the PROCEDURE TEMPLATES tab.

2. Click NEW.

3. “00000 Unnamed Procedure”


will populate in the
TEMPLATE NAME box.

TO MODIFY ANY PROCEDURE


a) Select the procedure to modify.
b) Use the up, down, remove buttons.
c) To add a view, follow step 5.
4. Press backspace on your
keyboard then type in the name
Of the procedure you want to add.

5. Add the views you want in the


procedure using the
NEW SUBJECTS TO ADD box.
This box is set up like a subject tree.
The “+” sign will expand the list.
For a wrist procedure, for example:
You would expand “Upper Extremity”
then expand “Wrist” to be able to see
the wrist views.

6. Click OK at the bottom right of the


configuration box.

CHANGING THE DEFAULT ORIENTATION

1. Click on the SUBJECT TREE tab.

2. Right click on
the view you want
to modify.

3. Left click on the


PROPERTIES option.

TO CHANGE DEFAULT ROTATION


a) Double click on the Auto-Rotate number.
b) Type in the number you want it to rotate to.
This number will be 0, 90, 180, or 270.
Adding 90° will rotate the image clockwise.
Subtracting 90° will rotate counter-clockwise.

TO CHANGE DEFAULT MIRRORING


a) Double click on the Auto-Mirror number.
b) Type in the “1” if it is “0”. Type in “0” if it is “1”
Use this option only if you need to flip your
image horizontally.

4. After typing in the correct number for the setting, press ENTER on your keyboard.
5. Select CONFIRM to apply the change.
6. Click OK at the bottom right of the configuration box.

CHANGING THE DEFAULT TECHNIQUES
1. Click on the SUBJECT TREE tab.

2. Right-click on
the view you want
to modify.

3. Left-click on the
EDIT APRs... option.

RUNNING A REJECT ANALYSIS REPORT
1. Click on the PROGRAM SETTINGS tab.

2. Click on the ACTIVITY LOG button.

3. After selecting which filters you need, select CREATE/PRINT REPORT.

Note: You can


edit what appears
on your report
by adjusting the
Date Range and
User filter.

4. This box will appear. Click OK.

5. A document containing your Reject Anaylsis information will be generated.

Click the PRINT icon.

6. A “Save As” box will appear.


Select which folder you would like your reports to be saved in.

Name the file.


Click SAVE.

7. You can then access the folder to view, print, or save to a flash drive.
