PART III: Work Out (10%)

Solve the following question and show all the necessary step clearly.

1. Given three vectors A B=3 ^i +2 ^j+ k^ and C=−3
⃗ ^i+ 2 ^j+4 k^

Find: i) the resultant of these three vectors. (0.5 ₧ )


ii) the magnitude of their resultant. (0.5 ₧ )
iii) the unit vector in the direction of the the resultant. (1 ₧ )
2. Two projectiles are thrown with the same initial velocity, one at an angle θ and the other at 90 o-θ
from the ground.
i) Derive the maximum horizontal distance covered by them from the projection point? (1 pt )
ii) Derive the total time of of flight they can attain on air? (1 pt )
iii) What can you say about their range and total time of flight (compare)? (1 pt )
3. A block of mass m = 2kg slides down on an inclined plane as shown in the figure below.
(use g = 10 m/s2, sin 45o = cos 45o = √2/2 )

Find:
i) the acceleration of the block if the inclined plane has coefficient of kinetic friction 0.2 (1 pt )
ii) the work done by the friction force if the sliding distance is 1m. (1 pt )
4. Two identical balls of mass 1kg moving at 10m/s and -5m/s. If they meet in head on elastic
collision. find their velocities after collision? (3 ₧ )
