IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing or This activity will help you recall the concept of sets and the
presenting the basic operations on sets.
new lesson Let A = {red, blue, orange}, B = {red, violet, white} and C =
{black, blue}.
Find the following.
1. A∪B 4. n(A ∪ B) 7. A∩B∩C
2. A∩B 5. n(A ∩ B) 8. A ∩(B ∪ C)
3. A ∪ B ∪ C 6. A∩C 9. n(A ∩ (B ∪ C))
Answers Key
1. A ∪ B = {red, blue, orange, violet, white}
2. A ∩ B = {red}
3. A ∪ A ∪ C = {red, blue, orange, violet, white, black}
4. n(A ∪ A) = 5
5. n(A ∩ B) = 1
6. A ∩ C = {blue}
7. A ∩ B ∩ C = { }
8. A ∩ (B ∪ C) = {red, blue}
9. n(A∩(B∪C)) = 2
B. Establishing a
purpose for the Motive Question
lesson
1. How can the Rectangular Coordinate System be used in real
life?
Illustrative Examples:
Let A = {2, 3, 5} and B = {0, 5}. Find (a) A × B and (b) B × A.
Solution:
A × B = {(2, 0), (2, 5), (3, 0), (3, 5), (5, 0), (5, 5)}
B × A = {(0, 2), (5, 2), (0, 3), (5, 3), (0, 5), (5, 5)}
There are also points which lie in the x- and y-axes. The points
which lie in the x-axis have coordinates (x, 0) and the points
which lie in the y-axis have coordinates (0, y), where x and y
are real numbers.

ACTIVITYRECTANGULAR COORDINATE SYSTEM
Description: This activity is a form of a game which will
enable you to learn the Rectangular Coordinate
System.
Direction: Form two lines. 15 of you will form horizontal
line (x-axis) and 14 for the vertical line ( y-axis).
These lines should intersect at the middle. Others
may stay at any quadrant separated by the lines.
You may sit down and will only stand when the
coordinates of the point, the axis or the quadrant
you belong is called.
1. What is the Rectangular Coordinate System composed of?
2. Where do you see the origin?

ACTIVITY COORDINART
Activities for
application or Description: This activity will give you some ideas on how
remediation Cartesian plane is used in drawing objects.
Perform this activity in group of 5 to 10 students.
Direction: Select only one among the three coordinArts.
Identify the ordered pairs of the significant points
so that the figure below would be drawn.
