SRS of Students Result Management System

The document provides a system requirements specification for a student result management system. It describes the existing paper-based system and its limitations. The proposed online system would allow administrators to enter marks and automatically generate grades, reports, and results that students could access online. It analyzes the technical, behavioral, and economic feasibility of the proposed system. The engineering paradigm to be applied is the V-model for requirements analysis, design, and testing.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
Students result management system, all that a test evaluator has to do is enter the marks of the
student. The system automatically makes the calculations and generates the report card without
any error. Student Result Management System is a technological opportunity for the school,
college, university and coaching center institutions searching for a secure, simple and alternative
solution to the conventional paper-based exam results evaluation, reporting and distribution.

The project students result management system mainly used for publishing students results
through online. This system can publish results of each and every students of an Organization
quickly. Every students can access their results and download in pdf format. Administrator only
inserting the marks for each subject and the system automatically generates the grades for each
subjects.

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

In the case of notice board result publication ,finding result is complex for students. In the case
of grace cards,there is more time required for preparing grace cards and over paper usage will
results in difficult to backup and maintains. Awarding the grades accordance to the marks of
each students very time consuming activity .And also the traditional method is very expensive
because of the over usage of papers.

1.3 SCOPE AND RELEVANCE OF THE PROJECT

In modern world all the systems are automated ,but in result publication process are always
using tradition methodology that is the results are published via notice board,records,grade cards
ect. In the case of notice board result publication ,finding result is complex for students. In the
case of grace cards,there is more time required for preparing grace cards and over paper usage
will results in difficult to backup and maintains. In this context the project entitled online
students management system is more useful for overcome the above situations.

1.4 OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the Result Management System is to manage the details of Result,
Progress, Student,Course, Exam. It manages all the information about Result, Activity, Exam
Result. The project is totally built at administrative end and thus only the administrator is
guaranteed the access. The purpose of the project is to build an application program to reduce the
manual work for managing the Result, Progress, Activity, Student. It tracks all the details about
the Student, Course, Exam.

2. SYSTEM ANALYSIS

3
2.1 INTRODUCTION
The process of gathering information, diagnosing the problems, then interpreting facts is known
as System analysis. It also includes recommending system improvements needed, based on the
same data. The system is observed as a whole, the inputs need to be identified first before
running them and then the system is subjected to study as a whole to identify the problem areas.

Students result management system, all that a test evaluator has to do is enter the
marks of the student. The system automatically makes the calculations and generates the report
card without any error. Student Result Management System is a technological opportunity for the
school, college, university and coaching center institutions searching for a secure, simple and
alternative solution to the conventional paper-based exam results evaluation, reporting and
distribution.

2.2 EXISTING SYSTEM

Teachers spend days on each student to score their papers, calculate their percentage and then
determine their rank in the class. This is an extremely time-consuming process that is also prone
to human errors. The paper format of report cards requires teachers to fill in the marks and rank
of a student on the card.Once the marks are calculated, teachers cater to the tedious work of
preparing the list of students who have obtained passing marks and those who have not.

2.2.1 LIMITATIONS OF EXISTING SYSTEM

This system is very time taking process. And the data can’t be accessed accurately. If the student
want more information about their courses the admin cant be able to provide that. Student need
to go manually for getting the information. This system is complex.

2.3 PROPOSED SYSTEM

Students result management system, all that a test evaluator has to do is enter the marks of the
student. The system automatically makes the calculations and generates the report card without
any error. Student Result Management System is a technological opportunity for the school,
college, university and coaching center institutions searching for a secure, simple and alternative
solution to the conventional paper-based exam results evaluation, reporting and distribution.

4
The software application unbelievably unravels and quickens the result
management system with unique templates by providing the administration a secure database
system for storing, evaluating and publishing the test scores and grades of candidates online. The
software exhibits some effortlessness in solving, adjusting and eradicating the problems in
traditional result and examination management with automation system.

2.3.1 ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

The project students result management system mainly used for publishing students results
through online. This system can publish results of each and every students of an Organization
quickly. Every students can access their results and download in pdf format. Administrator only
inserting the marks for each subject and the system automatically generates the grades for each
subjects.

2.4 FEASIBILITY STUDY

The system feasibility can be divided into the following sections.

2.4.1 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

To deploy the application, the only technical aspects needed are mentioned below:

Hardware Requirements:-
§ Processor:: Intel p4 processor with minimum 2GHz speed.
§ Ram:: 1GB (or) Higher
§ Cache:: 512MB
§ Hard disk:: 10GB
Software Requirements:-
§ Operating System:: Windows 10
§ Client Side:: HTML ,JavaScript
§ Server Side:: PHP
§ Database:: MySQL

2.4.2 BEHAVIORAL FEASIBILITY

5
The application require no special technical guidance and al the views available in the
application are self explanatory. The users are will warning and failure messages for all the
actions taken.

2.4.3 ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY

The project is economically feasible as the only cost involved is having a computer with
minimum requirement mentioned earlier. For the users to access the application, the only cost is
involved will be in getting access to the internet.

2.5 SYSTEM ENGINEERING PARADIGM APPLIED

In our project v-model is used. The V-Model, also known as the validation model is essentially
a further extension of the waterfall model approach and is also considered to be amongst the best
SDLC methodology. In this model, the progress doesn’t move in a straight line but rises upwards
after coding and implementation.
For the V model SDLC projects, early test planning is common. This is one of the primary
differences between the V-model and the waterfall model.
In a V-Model, with every development process, there is a simultaneous testing process that helps
verify and validate every step before leaping forward to the next step.
Benefits:
Easy to use
Clearly laid out deliverable
Better results because of early testing
Every stage is validated
Smooth and efficient bug fixing
Easy progress tracking

The V-Model is good for similar types of projects as Waterfall.
