Good evening everyone, On behalf of the founder of Spicmacay Dr.
Kiran Seth, APSB Management and Principal Ma’am, Teachers and
students. We welcome you all to this beautiful evening of classical
Carnatic Vocal Music Concert with Vidwan ‘Saaketh Raman Ji.
Spicmacay- The society for the promotion of Indian Classical Music
and Culture amongst youth is an inspiring youth moment which
promotes the aspect of India Cultural Heritage like Indian Classical
Music Classical Dance Folk Music and other aspects of Indian
Culture.
Started by Dr. Kiran Seth in the year 1977 this innovative idea has
gained traction since then with widespread involvement of some of
the biggest names of classical music and dance with the organization.
Spicmacay is an affirmation rejuvenating rare and marginalized art
forms in various categories like rituals, mythology, philosophy and to
facilitate awareness of their deeper subtler values.
The energetic and self-motivated liveliness of the youth. The
movement incorporates this liveliness to entice them into being
guardians of what is their genuine right.
I would once again reiterate to our honorable guest and august
audience that it is an honor and privilege amidst us today.
I now request Keerthana to introduce the highly acclaimed artist
Vidwan ‘Saaketh Raman Ji’ to the audience.
KEERTHANA
A very good evening to all and welcome to today’s rendezvous series
with SPICMACAY. I am delighted to welcome our special guest for
today Vidwan Saket Raman ji, a very well renowned Carnatic
vocalist, composer, music educator and teacher in the Carnatic music
fraternity.
He has been the prime disciple of sought-after violin maestro Padma
Bhushan Lalgudi Jayaraman since the age of 8. Saket Raman ji has
also learnt advanced voice culture techniques and Hindustani music
from Padma Bhushan Dr TV Gopalakrishnan, rare krithis from
Vidwan Nagai Muralidharan and is known for his innovation within
traditional boundaries of Carnatic music.
I would also like to share some of his achievements including
being:
- the Founder of Samuditha Foundation ,
- being an A’ grade musician of All India Radio,
- Hailed as “Prince of Pallavi“ for presenting one of a kind
“Saptha Raga Saptha Thala Saptha Swara“ Pallavi for Pallavi
Darbar, 2018,
- He has pioneered an annual exclusive thematic production , has
Composed more than 200 Pallavis on various themes,
I would also like to inform that our guest here has Performed in
prestigious venues and cities across the world like, Narada Gana
Sabha, Rama Seva Mandali Bengalore, SpicMacay , Theatre De Villa
Paris, Chicago, Cleveland, San Diego International Music festival,
Boston Learnquest Conference, Sydney Music Festival, Dubai,
London,
Frankfurt, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Raleigh, Pittsburgh,
Washington, Phoenix, Connecticut. Sir it is indeed an honor to have
you with us today .

1.Who was your inspiration and What is/was the biggest
problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
2. Do you experience stress and nervousness before going on
stage? If yes, how do you cope up with it and gain
confidence?

Namaste Guruji I am Anuj first of all congratulations for an
extraordinary vocal recital. I have a few doubts can you
clarify them for me
1.I have seen various artists taking alaaps and taans
spontaneously. As a learner how can I develop this ability?
2.Normally we practice basic alankaars in morning. Do we
need to practice raag specific alankaars. And where can we
find them ?
3.Do we still have guru – shishya Parampara learning system
in Hindustani Classical Music? If so where can we find it ?
4. I am often told to abstain from certain food like ice cream
and sour foods. What is your opinion, should student indulge
occasionally or complete abstain from it ?
5. Guru ji I sometimes doubt whether there is a future for
Hindustani Classical Music or not . What are your views on
it ?
