Lesson Plan in Science 10

The lesson plan aims to teach students about biodiversity and its importance to ecosystem stability. Students will analyze how biodiversity impacts ecosystem stability, identify species and their values, and appreciate the significance of biodiversity. Activities include solving tangram puzzles to see hidden pictures, writing persuasive essays on threats to biodiversity, and a quiz to assess learning. The goal is for students to understand that all species rely on one another and greater biodiversity increases chances of ecosystem stability.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 10

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Analyze the impact of biodiversity to the stability of an ecosystem.
 Identify the species and their value.
 Appreciate the importance of biodiversity.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
1. Topic: Biodiversity and Stability
2. Reference: Grade 10 Science Learner’s and Teacher’s material and Internet
3. Materials: Laptop, TV monitor/Projector, Tangram puzzle and worksheet
III. PROCEDURE
Teachers Activity Students Activity
A. Preparatory Activity  Greetings
 Prayer
B. Motivation/Drill  Attendance

Are you familiar with a tangram (Answers are varied)

puzzle?

I have here a tangram puzzle that The students form into three circles
arrange in any shape. Now form into
three circle.

What you need to do is to “Yes ma’am!”

collaborate in arranging the puzzle (The students will solve the tangram
to form a square and you will unlock puzzle)
the hidden pictures. I will give you
10 minutes to arrange the puzzle. Is
that clear?

Disarrange tangram puzzle 1: Butterfly

Disarrange tangram puzzle 2: Bird “ it is different kind of animals”
Disarrange tangram puzzle 3: Cat

What do you observe about your

puzzles? What hidden pictures do
you see?

Yes it is.
C. Activity
Now, group yourselves into four
groups. The students group their selves according
to their circle of friends.
You will make a persuasive essay
(that is good only for 5-7 minutes). I Group 1: deforestation
have here a box, inside it there’s a Group2: drought
folding paper writing the title of Group 3: pollution
what persuasive essay you should Group 4:Floods
make. The content of your essay
should only focus in convincing
your classmates on how to stop the
said title of each group. I will give
you 7 minutes to do your activity.

And last, group 4. (Group 2 present their output)

E. Abstraction
I’m sure you have now the idea of
what lesson we will be discussing “ Something to do about Biodiversity”
today. So what do you think it is?
(Answers are varied)
Very good. Now, who among you
here can define biodiversity? (Listen carefully)
(I will discuss the definition of
biodiversity based on what they
have mentioned. I will just add other
information that was not mentioned
by the students.)

Every living organisms around us

has its own important role or value
for us to live. It can be economical, “ Direct Economic Value, Indirect
ecological, and aesthetical value. Economic Value and Aesthetic value”
The value of species can be divided
into three various categories. What
are those categories? “The species are considered to have

Correct. That is why biodiversity is
very important because it sustains
through flow of energy the food web
on earth and contributes to the
environmental stability. So class, (Answers are varied)
have you imagined our
environments without plants,
animals and nothing around us, just
the human being? What will happen
to us?
All the species in our ecosystem rely
on one another. For example, is the
food web of the first consumer
always depends on producer? If
there is no producer then all the
species in ecosystem will be
affected. In some way, with less “Yes we did. And we don’t have any

become unstable, but the greater
biodiversity, the more chances that
stability can be attained in an
ecosystem.
