    Reflection Paper on Tanging Yaman

    “Tanging Yaman” is a Filipino movie directed by Laurice Guillen and produced by


    Star Cinema. The movie tackles about two of the most important aspects in a Filipino’s
    culture; faith in God and love within the family. It is a simple film, yet very powerful. It
    managed to touch the viewer’s heart, and it able to show different moral lessons in such
    a matter of time. As I watch the film, I learned a lot especially to the three siblings and
    their loving mother.

    Danny went astray during a period in his life, have aged poor but have a very
    strong relationship with his wife, children, and mother. While Art is very successful in his
    career but distant from everybody else, forcing his own will to everybody. Finally, Grace
    is living in the US together with her family, transforming into a money-centric monster at
    the expense of her relationship with her husband and children. Prior to that, Danny
    thought me that there is always a second chances in life and I should never waste it,
    and I need to work hard and not depend on others to be successful. While Art thought
    me that being successful in life will give me money and power but I should always be
    humble and love those who help and support me in life. Finally, Grace thought me that
    money is not the only thing that matters in life, there is our family and loved ones that
    will love and support us no matter what happen in our life. Also, Loleng (the mother of
    the three) thought me to trust God’s plan no matter what happen and that He will always
    be on our side whenever times are good or bad, happy or sad.

    Tanging Yaman will make you cry and smile at the same time. This film showed
    how prayer and faith in God makes us a better person. It showed how important the
    love and communication in a family is, and how understanding creates harmony within
    the family. Just always remember what the priest told to Art at the end of the film – “God
    will try to find a way to show the answer.”
