Anna is my best friend. She is very kind and funny. I

met her on the bus 2 years ago. She lives in my
neighborhood.
She has a dog. Its name is Toto. We always take
Toto and my dog Molly to the park. Sometimes, we
go to the beach with them.
It’s great how Anna and I are best friends and our
dogs are also best friends.

We use the subject pronouns to refer to
the subject of a sentence instead of
using proper names.
• To refer to people: I, you, he, she, we,

they
• To refer the things: it, they
Examples:
I am Mack.
She is our English teacher.
He goes to work in the afternoon.
We are your neighbors.
We use the object pronouns to refer to
the object of a sentence instead of using
a proper name.
• To refer to people: me, you, him, her,

us, them
• To refer the things: it, them
Examples:
Do you know him?
I brought her to the party.
Tea is the best drink. I love it!
We use the possessive adjectives and
pronouns to show belonging without
using the name of the owner.
• Possessive adjectives are always

followed by the noun they describe:
my, your, hiss, her, its, our, their
• Possessive pronouns are used
without the noun they describes:
mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs
Examples:
“Is it your turn?” “No, it’s his.”
This is our car.
Carla was here a moment ago, so this
notebook must be hers.
