Qualifications: High school diploma with 40 hours college credit, clerical skills and training, some knowledge of and experience working with office equipment such as copy machines, computers, and audiovisual equipment, some experience working with elementary age students helpful. Supervisors: District librarian and campus principals Responsibility: Maintain the library media center under the direction and supervision of the librarian. Schedule classes into the LMC in a timely and efficient manner using flexible scheduling to meet the needs of students, teachers and the public. Facilitate computer and audiovisual use in the LMC. Effectively communicate the LMC processes, procedures, and programs to students, teachers, and the public. Manage the daily clerical workings of the LMC. This document describes the various responsibilities and competencies expected of the LMC aide. It is also designed to serve as the evaluation form. The evaluator (District Librarian) will indicate a rating from 0 (low) to 5 (high) on each item. Total possible points for each category are noted, and the points received for the category will be totaled.

Major Responsibilities:
I. Maintenance of the LMC 1. Operates computerized library management systems 2. Organizes schedules and circulate materials in a timely manner 3. Shelves materials returned to the LMC correctly and in a timely manner 4. Keeps LMC program records updated and on file 5. Maintains an attractive and neat appearance of the LMC 6. teachers, students, community members, and vendors 9. Assists LMC users in locating and using LMC materials and equipment 10. Assists with LMC inventory and weeding procedures 11. Promotes library use by class and individual students 12. Works with students and teachers to maintain an orderly atmosphere 13. Teaches library lessons (book talks, read/tell stories, research skills, etc.) 14. Works collaboratively with campuses to maintain high standards and achieve campus goals III. 15. Reports to work punctually 5 16. Remains on task during work hours 5 17. Attends professional growth opportunities (workshops, webinars, conventions, etc.) 5 18. Remains abreast of current technology and information literacy trends that pertain to the LMC 5 19. Uses collection development tools (journals, online and vendor reviews, referrals) to improve the library s collection of print and non-print resources 5 20. Demonstrates enthusiasm for promoting the LMC and library services 5 21. Employs creative and innovative thinking to promote library services and programs 5
