Applications of Definite Integrals
Q1 By sketching the graphs, find the area of the region bounded by,

𝑦 = 𝑥 4 − 3𝑥 2 − 15 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 5.

Q2 Using integration, find the area of the triangle joining the points whose coordinates are
(4, 0), (8, 6)𝑎𝑛𝑑 (0, 4).

Q3 Find the area bounded by,

𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 = 8, 2𝑦 = 𝑥 2 , 𝑦 = 𝑥 𝑖𝑓 𝑦 ≥ 0

Q4 Find the area of the region bounded by the following curves,

𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 ≤ 8𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑥 2 ≤ 4𝑦

Q5 Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the area of the minor segment cut
off from the parabola, 16𝑦 = 5(16 − 𝑥 2 ) by the straight line 5𝑥 + 4𝑦 − 20 = 0 about
the X- axis.

Q6 Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the first quadrant of the circle

𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 = 8 about the X- axis.

Q7 Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the area bounded by,
𝑥 − 𝑦 = 4 about the Y- axis.

Q8 Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the area bounded by the triangle
