NARRATIVE REPORT
SCHOOL – BASED SCIENCE MONTH CELEBRATION CULMINATION 2022
Every year Margarita K. Yusingco National High School Celebrates Science Month but due
to the pandemic, the school wasn’t able to celebrate the said activity for the previous School Years,
2020-2021 and 2021-2022. Now, after two years of not being able to fully participate in this kind of
activity, the school is finally able to showcase the talents and skills of every student in terms of
innovation and discovery. Through this, the students were able to enjoy science concepts and engage
them on the recent scientific issues. Although it was a little bit different from the usual celebration of
Science Month, the said event became successful with the help of Science Club Officers, Science
Teachers and Science Club Adviser of Margarita K. Yusingco National High School.
Pursuant to Proclamation Number 264, s. 2022 (Declaring September of Every Year as the
National Science Month Celebration. With this, the field is hereby informed of the observance of the
2022 Science Month Celebration which started on September 5, 2022, and culminated on September
30, 2022, This year’s theme was “GENESCAPE: Priming Perspectives, Amplifying Advancements”.
The 2022 Science Month Celebration aims to:
A. Understand the importance of science, technology and environment as vital areas in nation
building, especially in the age of information and communications technology in the 21st
century;
B. Provide interactive strategies in the learning delivery in the promotion and transfer of science
and technology to the grassroots; and;
C. Complement, supplement and enrich formal Science education through curriculum activities
to popularize Science, technology and environment among the masses through various
Science activity.
In the implementation of the 2022 Science Month Celebration, the schools were discouraged to
conduct activities that will congregate learner’s vis-à-vis physical distancing protocols. Classes should
not be disrupted coherent to DepEd Order No. 34, s. 2022 (School Calendar and Activities for the
School Year 2022-2023), and DepEd Memorandum dated August 22, 2022 (Rescheduling of
Trainings and other Activities). As agreed by the science teachers of the school, the promotion of the
Science and Technology activity was integrated every Friday afternoon, 3:00 P.M. onwards.
The following were the initiated activities:
A. #SteMTokperiments - a Tiktok Science Experiment Competition
B. Quiz Bee (Individual and Team) – students will answer questions related to the four (4) areas
in Science (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics)
C. Poster making contest – illustrate, interpret, and emphasize the theme.
D. Likha - a Research Proposal competition.
E. Science Jingle Composition – a song writing competition.
F. Scientist Look-alike – portrayal of their chosen Scientist in the different field.
G. Egg Catching & Paper Plane Making (for longest time and longest distance to be covered) –
apply their scientific ability to use one’s knowledge effectively and readily in execution.
H. Film Showing – watch science fiction movies.

Prior to the implementation of the said activity, the teachers involved met the GPTA President
and Treasurer together with Science Club Officers to discuss on their participation and assistance in
the conduct of the activity. Finally, it was agreed that the GPTS organization will shoulder the
expenses for snacks of the judges and visitors during the conduct of the said activity.
The program started at exactly 2:00 P.M. at the MKYNHS Oval. Students were strictly
obliged to observe health protocols. The event started with a short program hosted by a science club
member, Ms. Maureen Copag. Posted below was the flow of the program.
The event head invited three science teachers all the way from Agusan Del Norte and Butuan
City Divisions, for the poster making and Stemtokperiment entries, since it was posted online. To
name: Ms. Luna Munda Aparecio, a Biology major and a special science teacher of Anticala National
High School, Butuan City Division; Ms. Yanda Gerona Codaste, a biology major and a secondary
school teacher of San Vicente National High School, Butuan City Division; and Mr. John Carlo
Ruaya, a biology major and a secondary school teacher of Mat-I National High School, Agusan del
Norte Division. During the culmination program, dated September 30, 2022, the following were the
judges invited in the event; Mr. Leopardo P. Cortes, Jr., School Head; Mrs. Marie Grace L. Noquiao,
School Nurse; Hon. Jerry L. Elle, Brgy. Education Committee Chairman; Mr. Alvin Julius O.
Dollano, Alumni Representative and District AO-II; and Mr. Lloyd M. Luna, volunteer teacher.
Learning does not only happen inside the classrooms but it comes from experience and
gaining knowledge in our everyday lives. Even though there are a lot of changes in the modality of
learning of students, our mission will still remain- to provide every student an equal opportunity to
learn and no one will be left behind.
The results of the events competed was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Judges,
Mr. leopard P. Cortes Jr. assisted by the tabulators, Mrs. Angel Beb D. Sereno and Mr. Loyd M.
Luna. The activity winded up at exactly 5:30 pm.
