ARTS COMPETITION, 2K22

RULES AND REGULATIONS

ON STAGE EVENTS
ELOCUTION
1. The time allotted to each contestant is 10 minutes.
2. Two entries from each batch.
3. Topic for elocution will be announced 5 minutes before the programme.
4. Contestants are not allowed to keep any paper, cards or notes.
5. Quotes or reference from other articles written by others are allowed.
6. Judging will be based on the command over speech, expression, articulation, vocabulary,
voice modulation and mannerism of the contestant.
7. Decision of the judges will be final.

RECITATION

1. Time allotted each contestant is 5 minutes


2. Two entries from each batch
3. Participants are not allowed to refer any notes or printed material during the presentation.
4. Evaluates the physical nature of recitation with special focus on voice, eye contact, body
language.
5. Evaluates the auditory nature of the recitation with special focus on volume, use of voice
inflection and proper pronunciation.
LIGHT MUSIC

1. Film songs will not allowed


2. Two entries from each batch is allowed
3. Instruments are not allowed
4. Karoke is not allowed
5. Duration:5 minutes
6. Evaluation consider poise, clarity and voice of the participant

MONOACT

1. Duration:5 minutes
2. 2 entries from each batch
3. Content must have a proper theme
4. Offensive gestures and words are strictly not allowed
5. Decision of the judges will be final
6. Evaluation will be based on acting skill, clarity in dialogue delivery and character
assertion.

SOLO DANCE

1. Two entries from each class


2. Time limit:5 to 10 minutes
3. Theme :western, Hollywood, molly wood
4. Confirm the song and provide the audio to concerned representatives one day before
programme
5. Costumes should be follow college rules
6. Decision of the judges will be final
PERSONALITY CONTEST

1. Entries from each batch: two boy & two girl


2. Participants have to bring their own costumes and other required items.
3. Criteria for judging will be based on theme originality, clothing, innovation and walking
style and way of presenting the character
4. Three rounds –screen test round. Self presentation round, fish bowl session ( topics
related to current affairs)
5. 5 minutes time is allowed for the participants for dress change in between the rounds
6. In fourth round overall personality of top finalists will be judged on the basis of
confidence level,bodylanguage,dressing sense and way of answering
7. All participants must wear decent clothes
8. Time limit:5 to 10 minutes

(Marks deducted on exceeding time limit)

MAPPILA SONG
1. Duration :3-5 minutes
2. Two entry from each classes
3. Evaluation is based on sruthilayam, rhythm, language and clarity
4. Films song are not allowed
5. Preference for traditional mappila pattu

MIME

1. It is a group item with number of participants 4-8


2. Presentation of act or idea shall be using gestures and body postures.
3. Face painting must be done
4. Evaluation is based on idea, creativity, presentation style, makeup and music
5. Music is allowed
6. Duration: max 8 minutes
GROUP SONG
1. Only non-films are allowed
2. Only sruthi box is allowed
3. Karoke is not allowed
4. Song language: any Indian language
5. Duration :8-10 minutes
6. Can use reading material
7. No of participants:6-8(one entry from each class)

NADANPATTU
1. Song should be in Malayalam
2. Film song are not allowed
3. Instruments are allowed
4. Duration:10 minutes
5. Number of participants:5-7
6. Only one entry from each batch

SKIT
1. For item Skit, use of makeup, drapery and background music is allowed.
2. No personal remarks, aspersions and character assassination is allowed.
3. Vulgarity or bitter insinuations in presentation should be avoided.
4. Participants: 7
5. Duration: 8 to 10 minutes.
6. Only 5 minutes provided for stage arrangements
7. Judging is based on humour and satire
8. Either Malayalam or English can be used as presentation
GROUP DANCE

1. Participants: 10-12
2. One entry from one batch
3. Classical, semi classical and cinematic theme can be selected
4. Film songs/remix of songs are allowed
5. Duration: 5 minutes.
6. For various dance items non students shall be allowed to provide background music
7. (Both vocal & Instrumental).
8. No vulgarity, obscene language, profanity, personal attacks or religious extremism will
be allowed and can lead to disqualification.

OPPANA

1. Participants: 7
2. Duration: 10 minutes.
3. Song :Vocals are only permitted
4. One entry from each batch

DUFF MUTTU

1. Participants: 6-8
2. Duration: 10 minutes.
3. Song : Vocal

MARGAMKALI

1. Participants: 7 including singer.


2. Duration: 10 minutes.
3. Team must consist of all girls.
BHARATHANATYAM

1. The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance.
2. Participant will be allowed up to 15 minutes including time for preparation.
3. Two entry from each class
4. Judgment will be based on the qualities like Tal, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya or
Expression, Costumes, Footwork and general impression etc.
5. Time for sets/ Instruments setting is maximum 5 minutes.
6. The duration of the performance will be a minimum for 12 and a maximum for 15
minutes. Performance can also be made using Karaoke. The musical track of the
same should be submitted at the earliest.

ADAPT TUNE

1. It’s a solo event.


2. Timing: - maximum 4 minutes.
3. Music will be continuously played in random.
4. Participants should dance according to the music played.
5. Judge’s decision will be final.
6. Two entry from each class

KATHAPRASANGAM

1. The Medium is Malayalam.

2. Two entry one each class

3. The Judgment will be based on qualities like clarities of language, theme, expression of
emotions, the harmony of literature and singing qualities

4. Maximum time allotted for the item is 10 minutes.


MIMICRY

1. This is a solo event.


2. Each participant shall be given 5 minutes.
3. Judgment will be based on imitating skill, variety of sound and voices imitated and
overall presentation.
4. No vulgar or unparliamentarily language will be entertainment.
5. The decision of the judge will be final
6. Two entry from each class

FOLK SOLO DANCE

1. The dance form should be purely folk. It can be any folk form from any part of the
country.
2. Two entry from each class
3. Participants should wear proper costume and make up.
4. Duration of the performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
5. Participants can perform on track.
6. The performance will be judged on the basis of rhythm, gestures, expression and overall
presentation.
7. The decision of the judge will be final

THIRUVATHIRAKALI

1. Maximum number of participants allowed is Ten (10).


2. Maximum 10 dancers & accompanists including singers allowed are 4.
3. Duration of the dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
4. Judgment will be based on the basis of Rhythm, Formation, Expression, Costumes, Make-
up, Sets, and Over-all effect.
MARGAMKALI

1. Maximum number of participants allowed is Ten (10).


2. Maximum 10 dancers & accompanists including singers allowed are 4.
3. Duration of the dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
4. Judgment will be based on the basis of Rhythm, Formation, Expression, Costumes, Make-
up, Sets, and Over-all effect.

WESTERN VOCAL SOLO


1. The competition is common to men and women participants
2. Two entry from each class
3. Time allotted for item is not more than 5 minutes.
4. Language of the song shall be only English
5. Judgment will be made on the qualities like composition, rhythm, co-ordination and
General impression etc.
