Organizational part consists in two major areas for analyzing an organization; Strategic
structure and the financial performance.
Financial Performance Evaluation: Includes a comparative analysis for the last five years in the
form of ratio analysis. Most organization has readymade summary of key performance analysis
for last five years. Students need to show those performances in graphs. (ROA, ROE, Net Profit
Margin, Debt-Equity Ratio, Current Ratio Quick Ratio for non bank business, Net Interest
Margin, Loss Ratio for banks etc.)
Topic should be according to your major and actual work area of your organization. Some
common finance and banking topics include;
a. Customer satisfaction
b. Merchandising – buyer satisfaction
c. Advertising and promotional activities
a) General Description; Details of the topic can be described without any analysis or evaluation. It
can be feature, policy or practice of the organization of the relevant function or activities. For
example; Deposit Schemes Analysis of Uttara Bank, Uttara Branch. This part may include the
following; (Note that, most students just describe the following in the entire report part.
Although deposits are two types namely current and savings, but students just describe the
savings deposit.)
i. Types of deposits offered by the bank/branch
ii. Number of deposit schemes available/offered to the customer to be described
iii. Details/features of each scheme (such as, duration, amount, interest rate, and other
conditions etc).
b) Evaluation/Analysis; This part should have an in-depth analysis or evaluation of the chosen
topic. For the same example, students should be able to show the following information.
i. Target of each and total deposit(s) set by the branch for each period/year
ii. Number of depositors for the last 5 years
iii. Amount of total deposits collected for all schemes for the last 5 years
iv. Amount of total deposits collected by each scheme for the last 5 years
v. Number of new schemes offered recently
vi. Number of deposit schemes closed by the management and why
vii. Depositors profile analysis to show the types of depositors
viii. Bank’s focus on deposit collection
ix. Comparative/competitive analysis
x. Rates and deposit correlation analysis
xi. Promotional activities.
If a student work on foreign exchange department or general banking department, then a similar
approach can be taken to prepare the report. One student informed that she has been assigned in the
general banking department but can’t decide what is to be her topic part name. She can use her topic
name as Retail Banking Operation of Uttara Bank, Uttara Branch. For other majors like HRM and
Marketing, each student can choose a topic based on their work area. Please share your thoughts on
this if you have a better understanding in this issue.
This section should include the primary and secondary learning. You are to present the actual
tasks you have completed during your internship period. Keep a diary to record everyday
activities and show the supervisor every meeting day. From the diary the intern will prepare the
description of the actual task part. The parts will be divided into following two;
Primary learning: List of actual tasks performed by you each day. These tasks are the
various functions you will do in your practicum organization.
• Secondary learning: These are the other things that you will learn from your
organization. Such as organizational behavior, culture, rights and rituals.
You must make a detailed description of your observation based on the following
information/aspects.
• The Department/Division/Unit Structure
• Manpower
• Task specification
• Departmental goals
• Departmental achievements
(Supervisor will explain in case student fails to comprehend in this regard)

Appendices
The research part consists of a relevant topic according to the major of the interns where each
intern wants to further study of a problem or issue he/she seems to encounter with.
For example (for Finance Students)
Research topic must be well defined. A clear question must be raised to identify the cause of
the problem and to suggest a solution. For example; “Why deposit pension scheme (DPS) of
xyz bank south end branch is failing to meet its target”? (Refer to the actual task part in
departmental goals and achievements section). And then you can tell in details why it is
problem for a bank. The following implications can be seen as a problem.
Deposit is the biggest source of fund for a bank to be able to make loans or investments (for
Islamic banks).
Research Methodology
The supervisor will suggest an appropriate research methodology based on relevant topic
selected by the student after submitting an acceptable research proposal approved by the
supervisor.
