Overview:

Research is defined as careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern or problem

using scientific methods. According to the American sociologist Babbie (2019), research is a
systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict, and control the observed phenomenon. It involves
inductive and deductive methods.

Research is defined as the creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing knowledge in a
new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings. This
could include synthesis and analysis of previous research to the extent that it leads to new and
creative outcomes.

Good research follows a systematic approach to capture accurate data. Researchers need to
practice ethics and a code of conduct while making observations or drawing conclusions. The
analysis is based on logical reasoning and involves both inductive and deductive methods. Real-time
data and knowledge is derived from actual observations in natural settings. There is an in-depth
analysis of all data collected so that there are no anomalies associated with it. It creates a path for
generating new questions. Existing data helps create more research opportunities. It is analytical and
uses all the available data so that there is no ambiguity in inference. Accuracy is one of the most
critical aspects of research. The information must be accurate and correct. For example, laboratories
provide a controlled environment to collect data. Accuracy is measured in the instruments used, the
calibrations of instruments or tools, and the experiment’s final result (What is research, 2019).

II. Learning Activities

Instructions: Answer the given questions briefly.

1. Why is it important to do research?
10
It plays an important role in discovering new treatments and ensuring that existing treatments are used
as effectively as possible. Research can provide answers to previously unknown questions, filling
knowledge gaps and changing the way healthcare professionals work.

2. Have you heard of the word plagiarism? What is it about?

Yes i heard the word plagiarism is misrepresenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without
their permission, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.

A. EXPLORE

Instructions: Answer the following questions briefly.
15
1. What research agenda have you chosen for your paper and why?
The research agenda we have chosen is titled kerosene and calamansi as stain remover. We
chose this agenda/title because we believe it is viable for all of us to experiment with, especially
given the constraints imposed by Covid. And we believe that discovering a stain-cleaning option is
a good idea.
2. What do you want to find out? Are you aware of any controversies regarding this topic? If so, what
are they, and what is your current stand on the issue?
I want to find out if its fessible to use kerosene and calamansi as stain removal.
3. In crafting this research agenda did you consider compassion towards
others in which your research can be of contribution to the community? Why
do you say so?
In developing and settling on our research agenda, I gave some thought to
compassion for others, as it might be a positive contribution to the community.
