Sample Calculations for the shear strength envelope:


The peak shear strength =  = 0.081667 MPa
Shear displacement of the peak shear strength = 2.99 mm
Normal force = 355 N
Normal stress =  = normal force/cross section area
Normal stress = 355/3600 = 0.0986111 MPa
 = c +  * tan where c is constant equal to zero because its sand
The peak friction angle =  = arctan (/) = arctan (0.081667/0.0986111) = 39.631o
