Introduction
The Advance by Onity lock is an upgradeable platform for
current and future technology advancements that will eventually
involve the door, other room devices and property management
systems
The lock features a two piece exterior design that
minimizes the size of the lock hardware on the exterior side of
the door without compromising the aesthetics on the interior
side of the door
The lock delivers improved user ergonomics including the
exclusive and patented Groove & Arrow design for intuitive,
user-friendly operation by the hotel guest
The lock offers a variety of aesthetic options, including
modular handles, finishes, and cover plates that allow design
professionals to seamlessly blend the locking system into any
architectural style and environment
The lock meets the most stringent industry standards for
safety, security and reliability
Approvals
UL approved to UL10C for installation on fire doors up to a 3
hour rating,
Certified to BHMA/ANSI 156.25 for electronic locks.
Certified to BHMA/ANSI 156.13 Grade 1 for mortise locks.
Certified to BHMA/ANSI 156.18 for architectural Finishes.
EN 1634-1:2000 – European fire resistance test for door and
shutter assemblies.
Electronics
The lock has two electronic sub-assemblies, the card reader,
and the main printed circuit board.
The card reader is weather resistant and will perform properly in
either an interior or exterior environment. In extreme cold
environments the card slot may become covered in frost or ice
which can usually be displaced by insertion of the key card.
The main printed circuit board contains the electronic circuit
components and the 4 AA alkaline batteries.
Mechanics
The mechanical design of the lock allows it to be adapted to
several mortise lock cases. The current version is compatible
with the Onity ANSI mortise lock and the Onity EURO mortise
lock. DIN, bored lock, and tubular latch will be added in phase 2.
The ANSI lock conforms to the following BHMA Type(s).
(N111)(156.13)(F15)
(L111)(156.13)(F15)
(U111)(156.13)(F15)

How it Works
In the locked position the outside handle will turn freely without
any resistance.
To unlock the door, insert a valid key card. A green light
indicates the lock is unlocked. Remove the card and operate the
handle to open the door.
Once inside the room, allow the door to close and turn the
thumb turn to project the deadbolt to insure privacy. When the
deadbolt is projected the lock will reject cards, except any card
that has been programmed with “privacy override”.
Templates
Each master carton of locks contains one paper installation
template. Generally the paper template is only used to prepare
one or two doors by hand. See the appendix for a copy of the
templates.
NOTE: Always check a template with a ruler to be sure it was
printed to scale before using it to drill a door.
Installation Tools
For production installation of several locks Onity requires the
use of production door machining equipment. This equipment
insures that the door is prepared properly and that it’s integrity
and strength is not compromised
Door Mortiser
Two very similar machines are available for making the mortise
lock pocket in a wood door.
EURO/DIN installation
Drill both the B and C hole on the inside face of the door
only.
Retrofit installation
If this is a retrofit installation using an existing Onity
mortise lock case, drill the hole that is farthest away from
the door edge (marked C). The wire from the outside
rosette will pass through this hole and around the back of
the mortise lockset.
EURO/DIN installation
Drill both the B and C hole on the inside face of the door
only.
Use the band file to remove the remaining metal by filing to the
outline you previously marked on the door.
The back plate of the outside rosette is marked with the words;
TOP
ANSI/EURO/DIN/BLA
With TOP facing up, route the wire through the hole in the
mortise lock (new installation) or around the back of the mortise
lock (retrofit ANSI installation) and insert the square shaft and
mounting posts into the lock case. On the inside of the door,
move the wire to the side and then secure the inside plate to the
outside rosette with two 5mm screws.
Insert the reader into the reader hole and route the cable
through the hole provided. Fasten the reader with two 4mm
screws.
DO NOT USE A POWER SCREWDRIVER – damage to the
reader housing may occur.
Fasten the reader cable to the connector on the board.
Loosen all 4 screws and adjust the inside plate so that it is
vertical and straight on the door. Tighten the 4 screws, and
install the 2 addition screws at the top and bottom of the plate.
Drill a pilot hole suited to the size of the screw and the door
construction.
Install the bottom cover and battery cover using 12 mm T-10
screws. Install the inside handle using the 8mm T-10 screw.
For ANSI – install the t-turn using a 12mm T-10 screw
For EURO/DIN insert the t-turn cylinder into the hole provided
and secure with the screw in the lock face plate.
Finally, install the outside handle using a 12mm T-10 screw.
Cleaning
The lock may be cleaned with a damp cloth.
In beach front or corrosive environments protect the lock from
salt water corrosion with products such as Salt-X or automotive
car wax. Apply regularly.
Battery Replacement
BATTERY WARNINGS! • Never store an un-installed lock with the batteries in
the battery holder.
• Any battery holder that shows signs of corrosion
must be replaced. It is not possible to clean the
holder enough to totally neutralize the corrosive
reaction.
• Only use approved, high quality, alkaline batteries.
• Never mix used and new batteries in the same lock.
• Never mix brands of batteries in the same lock.
• Store batteries at room temperature. Extreme
temperatures reduce performance.
