Ice Breaking: The "What Am I?" Game. The teacher will write a noun and stick the note on the forehead of
one of the students. The student who has the post it will have to ask questions to guess who or what it is, for Ti
example, Am I a place? Do I have trees? The other student should answer only with yes or no to the me
questions.
Homework Checking:
Warm Up 1: To set lesson context and review countable and uncountable nouns.
The teacher greets students and points some food/images and asked ''what is this?''. The objects are taken out
of the bag one by one. (bananas, eggs, honey, bread, cake, milk, etc) Their answers are written on the board in
two categories. (Countable and Uncountable Nouns) Asked to the students How can you count them?
Presentation: How can you count them? With quantifiers
The teacher will ask the question and in the answer will write on the blackboard the topic to be reviewed.
Then the teacher will write the correct quantifiers for countable and uncountable nouns and write an example
for each of them.
We use many and much, to refer to big quantities. We use ‘many’ with countable nouns and ‘much’
with uncountable nouns.
-There are many eggs in the fridge
-There is much milk in the fridge
To talk about small quantities we can use ‘few’ and ‘little’. We use ‘a few’ with countable nouns and ‘a
little’ with uncountable nouns.
-There are few grapes in the fruit bowl
-There is little sugar in the sugar bowl
When we want to refer to a plural noun or an uncountable noun, without giving a specific quantity, we
use ‘some’ and ‘any’. We use ‘some’ in affirmatives and ‘any’ in questions and negatives.
-There are some apples
-There aren´t any apples
- Are there any apples?
Meaningful Drills
The teacher will do a semi-controlled activity, she will ask the students a serie of questions and they will
answer them as the case may be. For example, Do you have some milk in your house? and the student could
answer Yes, I have some milk or No, I don´t have any milk.
Follow Up Activities
Hang man game. For this game, one of the students must go to the blackboard and the teacher will indicate
the quantifier that their partner must guess. The student who remains seated must say letters trying to find the
correct word.
For example SOME, the student must draw four lines _ _ _ _
