Problem 8 - Analysis of Eccentrically Loaded Column With Unknown C Value

The document provides details on analyzing the strength of an eccentrically loaded reinforced concrete column with unknown c value. It gives the column dimensions, reinforcement details, material properties, and applied load with eccentricity. It then calculates the axial load capacity Pn and moment strength using the plastic centroid method and iterative process to determine the c value that satisfies equilibrium. The c value is found to be 440.15 mm, and the corresponding Pn and moment strength are 4189.01 kN and 325 mm, respectively.

Problem 8 - Analysis of Eccentrically Loaded Column with Unknown c value

Prepared by: Engr. RANDY G. POLICARPIO

The column is reinforced with ten No. 36 bars distributed around the perimeter as shown in the figure. Load P n will be applied
with eccentricity e = 200 mm about the strong axis. Material sttengths are f'c = 41.4 MPa and fy = 517 MPa. Find the
axial load and moment strength. Use NSCP 2015.
