1. Introduction
Dentistry is a dental management system. It is basically a process management
system. Now a day, technology covered a long way to make human life easier even
in the medical field. The need of this system is to automate the existing
traditional manual system. The traditional method means the patients need to fill
in their registration form manually, dentist will analyze the patient and will write
the prescription on the paper manually and whole history of the patient will be
written on papers. All the information will only keep in files. The files will be
place in the racks and this will cause a lot of trouble like longer time to retrieve
the information, risk of losing information by misplacing the files, human errors
or mistakes during writing and reading. This project will automate all the services
and describes how to manage for good performance and better services for the
patients.

Dentistry will provide high efficiency management tools, systematic patient’s

record. It covers all the aspects of making appointment of is to provide a system
which will records all the patient dental information that will be kept in a secure
database and can be easily keep track by the dentist and dental staff. The system
also has a staff section. Dental staff can manage the whole system. Dental staff
can add/remove, manage patients and dentists’ information. Dental staff can also
view the log session.

The system also allows dentists to log in. Dentists can edit their profile and view
their upcoming appointments, patients etc. They can even input the fee for a
certain dental procedure. The patient will get himself register and his name and
record will be moved to the concerned dentist. At the same time dentist will be
acknowledged about the patient being added into his daily patient’s queue by
looking on his screen. After checking the patient dentist will write the
prescription and other procedures on the system and medical history if any.
Patient will receive the prescription draft from the registration counter. The
system also stores all the patient details, patients’ profile, dental procedures etc.
Dentistry enables dentists and dental staff to manage patient records and
appointments. Duplicate appointments will be avoided by the system.

2. Objective
To design a dental management system for dental hospital. The system
automates the manual procedure of managing clinic activities and save it in the
database. Enable the dentist and dental staff to view and manage the patients’
information and appointment schedule.

 System manages to save all the patient record accurately and

computerized.
  System should able to avoid the data redundancy of patient dental
information.
 System able to display patient dental history and treatment that had been
done.
 Generate report of patient dental condition according to the treatment
session and many other criteria
 Integrate an inventory system that can keep track of medicine or dental
supplies.

3. Problem Description
At the current time there is no dental database system that had been applied to
the Bahria dental college/hospital. All the management system and patient’s
related process are maintained manually. The manual procedure paper based
method that had been used by the dental hospital/college can be viewed by
anyone else. Misplace of information is possible. It will be a time taking process
to retrieve the information of a specific patient by searching the patients file
manually in the racks. Writing mistake could happen. All the way maintained
history of patient can be lost either by misplacing the file material, fire could also
burn the pages.

Again which threaten the data of the patients, waste of space, unnecessary costs
are involved, take time, also mistakes are not always avoidable and repetition of
work may take place. By implementing the Dentistry, all the record regarding
patient dental information and any medical procedures will be kept secure in the
database. Which can be more convenient for the dentist to track and for the
dental staff to maintain the record on daily basis.

4. Project Scope
The project scope falls in the medical domain. The project motive is patient and
dentist consultancy management system of a dental hospital/college. The system
is capable to fulfill the needs like registration factor of patients. Sending and
receiving patient information any time. Our system mainly focuses on keeping
track of dental records and information, online viewing the prescripts and
recommendation of dentists regarding a specific patient and inventory of medical
supplies.

Inside the dental hospital/college the dentistry is designed for the dentists and
the dental staff to serve them as a tool to automate the manual procedures,
assisting online transactions, monitoring the medical supplies and dental tools in
the inventory, organization of patient’s record.
5. Solution Application Area:
Dentistry is an industrial based project, it targets the Patients, Doctors and
Employees of Bahria Dental College. It will ease the process of appointments,
checkups, Inventory management and as a result improve productivity. It will use
the concepts of web development, databases, artificial Intelligence, Data Structure
Algorithms.
