Purposive Communication (Module 1)
Purposive Communication (Module 1)
1. Who was the sender in the communication situation described in the text?
The receivers in the text was all the employers under the department of Bernie.
The message stated that all employers working for Bernie's department must be present at the
emergency meeting tomorrow morning at precisely 8:00 am in the conference room.
Only Robert, the new trainee, did not receive the message because he does not have an internet
connection.
Written communication is the method used to convey the message. Bernie sends the message via
email.
Luis, the janitor, was subjected to communication noise because he merely read the email Bernie
sent but did not understand the instructions because he is not fluent in English.

B. RESEARCH WORK: Do find for the whole Credo of National Communication Association on
Communication Ethics.
Based on NCA Credo for Ethical Communication (adopted by the NCA Legislative Council in
November 1999) When individuals communicate, questions of right and evil emerge. Ethical
communication is critical for responsible thinking, decision making, and the formation of
connections and communities within and beyond settings, cultures, channels, and media.
Furthermore, ethical communication promotes human value and dignity by encouraging honesty,
fairness, accountability, personal integrity, and respect for oneself and others. We think that
unethical communication jeopardizes the quality of all communication and, as a result, the well-
being of people and society. As a result, we, the members of the National Communication
Association, support and pledge to implementing the following ethical communication principles:
We advocate truthfulness, accuracy, honesty, and reason as essential to the integrity of
communication.
We endorse freedom of expression, diversity of perspective, and tolerance of dissent to achieve
the informed and responsible decision making fundamental to a civil society.
We strive to understand and respect other communicators before evaluating and responding to
their messages.
We promote access to communication resources and opportunities as necessary to fulfill human
potential and contribute to the well-being of families, communities, and society.
We promote communication climates of caring and mutual understanding that respect the unique
needs and characteristics of individual communicators.
We condemn communication that degrades individuals and humanity through distortion,
intimidation, coercion, and violence, and through the expression of intolerance and hatred.
We are committed to the courageous expression of personal convictions in pursuit of fairness and
justice.
We advocate sharing information, opinions, and feelings when facing significant choices while
also respecting privacy and confidentiality.
We accept responsibility for the short- and long-term consequences for our own communication
and expect the same of others.
C. What is meant by Sustainable Goals set by the United Nations? Research the 17 UN Sustainable Goals.
C. By integrating UN Sustainable Goal no.16-Peace and Order, how does Communication Ethics take an
important role towards achieving it?
In order to achieve UN Sustainable Goal No. 16, communication ethics are essential since there
are delicate situations when people's rights are at stake. There is constant rivalry. It is crucial to
confront threats of global murder, violence against children, human trafficking, and sexual assault
in order to advance inclusive and peaceful communities for sustainable development.
