Task 1
Explain the meaning of these sentences using a first conditional sentence with if.

Task 3
You have been asked to speak on these topics at a meeting. Write short paragraphs about what
you think will happen during the next two or three years, and what you or your company will do.
1. Interest rates
I think that interest rate will rise again during the next two or three years. If they do, we will
have to try to reduce our costs and the amount we borrow as much as possible, and we will not
be able to expand.
2. Your market share
I think that my market share will increase during the next two or three years. If it happens, we
will have to increase the production, and as a result, our profit will increase as well.
3. New competitors
I think that new competitors will appear during the next two or three years. If they do so, we will
have to strength our company business with new strategies of marketing, mainly innovation to
overcome this situation.
4. Technological changes
I think that technological changes will emerge during the next two or three years. If it happens,
we will have to adapt to these new technologies by training the workers.

Exercise 3 - If or when?
Fill in the blanks with if or when.
1. I don't think you'll have any problems, but call me if you do.
