The Barasoain Church is not just one of the oldest churches in the province of Bulacan, it is also
considered as one of the most important religious building in the country. Because of its significant
influence on Philippine history, the church has acquired the moniker "Cradle of Democracy in the East."
The Barasoain Church was chosen to be the site of the First Philippine Congress, more widely known as
the Malolos Congress, headed by Don Pedro A. Paterno. In terms of major establishment of Barasoain

A museum which is the Museo ng Republika ng 1899 (Barasoain Museum) is commonly known

Gallery 3: Pagtindig ng Republika focuses on the creation of the Malolos Congress and the
constitution-writing process.
Gallery 5: Pagtatanggol sa Republika highlights the threat that the American conquerors
posed to the young nation.
A dramatic light and sound performance on the Malolos Congress and the Philippine Constitution, as
well as a stereoscopy chamber with stereographs of the conflict with the United States, are added to the
museum's galleries.
Kalayaan Tree
