Demonstration Lesson Plan in Mathematics Grade II

(1) The document is a lesson plan for a mathematics class in the 2nd grade that teaches students to measure objects using milliliters (mL) and liters (L). (2) The lesson includes showing students different containers, discussing what mL and L represent, demonstrating how to measure liquid in each unit, and having students practice identifying containers and writing the correct measurement. (3) The goal is for students to understand what capacity and volume are, when to use mL and L, and how to apply these measurements in daily life.

Measures objects using appropriate measuring tools in mL and L. M2ME-IVf-36
A. Integration: Values; Science and Health
II. Subject Matter: Measuring objects using appropriate measuring tools in mL and L.
III. Learning References:
A. References
1. Curriculum Guide
2. Teacher’s Guide: 455-456
3. Learner’s Material: 361-363
B. Materials: Laptop, power point presentation, show me board, different containers
and liquid.

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
3. Drill
I will show different containers/bottles.
When I show container/ bottle clap your hands once, if the container can be
filled with small amount of liquid and clap your hands twice, if the container/
bottle can be filled with lots of liquid.

Aside from drinking water, what are the other use of water?
Do you measure the amount of water you are drinking everyday?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
I have here different kinds of containers/ bottles.
In every bottle, we can see different measuring unit.
Example this one

What bottle is this?

Can you the see a label of measuring unit of capacity of liquid in this bottle?
Yes !250
What letter can you see in the label?
Right! It is ml.The ml stands for milliliters

I will show another bottle.

Very good!what label of measuring unit of capacity can you see in the bottle?
Right! 1L
The letter L stands for Liter
2. Discussion
Today we are going to study about measuring objects using appropriate measuring
tools in ml or L.
In the presentation we had a while back we have tWo measuring unit for liquid. The
vitamin bottle measured in milliliters(ml) and the coke bottle is measured in Liter(L).

Which one can be filled more liquid the ceelin syrup bottle or the coke bottle.
Very good! The coke bottle.
Which bottle can be filled smaller amount of liquid?
Right! The ceelin syrup bottle.
Now, let study what is capacity.

1 Liter(L) is equivalent to 1,000 milliliters(ml)

Any amount of liquid that is lesser than 1 liter is measure in millilters.
When a container is big it is measured in Liter and when the container is small it is
measured in milliliters.
The teacher will show how to measure liquid in liters and milliliters.

I will show you again different kinds of container, then tell what measuring capacity of
liquid used. Write your answer on the show me board and I will count 1-5 then
altogether raise your answer.

bottles/container, 1 which has a measuring unit of Liter and another 1 for measuring
unit for millilieters.
Present it to the class.
4. Generalization
What is capacity or volume?
What are the appropriate units of measuring the volume or capacity of liquid?
When do we use Liter (L)?
When do we use milliliters (ml)?
Why is it important to know about the measuring capacity of liquid?
Can we use it in our daily life?
Give some scenario?
V. Evaluation
Show the correct measurement using milliliter and liter.
20 ml of vinegar
2ml of liquid medicine
1 liter of water
300ml of soy
